have recently purchased the rights to build a franchise resturant in St. Croix. I have leased space at a location that once had a resturant previously. I have try to log on to the Division of Permits butttttt. My question is, Do you need a permit for interior renovations if I will be self-contracting? I own a construction company in Florida, can I bring in my employees for the specialized trades? Your comments are appreciated

I can't answer that question for you. I wonder if a local architect would be able to help you. I have noticed that most all sites where any building or constraction was had multible Permits posted. I would almost be surprised if inside reservation are excluded. Perhaps call some of the other businesses to find out. I am sure all of them had to make improvement at one time.

In general, you'll find it easiest to deal with government agencies in person or on the phone. They aren't very internet savvy as yet. You may get frustrated with phones as many people do not return calls, however, the Building Permit division of DP&R on St Croix is 340-773-1082. Is the building in a historical district or near the shore line? Those may both impact what you can do and who you have to see..
