Relocation

Good Morning,

I have been following this board for some time now and find the information very useful. So let me say thanks for all the answered questions.

I am considering relocating and already have the Settlers Handbook. I have visited a number of Islands (Bahamas, Jamaica etc. and my parents lived in Hawaii for about 5 years). Sorry to say, but have not been to the VI.

My questions is more touchy-feely so please bear with me:

I am looking for a slower, less stressful lifestyle. (and better weather, I live in Germany at the time). However, so many of the posts are about problems that you have, and stresses and unkind people and corruption and limitations and ...

All of those things are here too. Especially lots of reglementation and unkind people. (I think the bad weather makes the people unhappy)

Can anyone till me if the slower, less stressful life is for real or is it the same thing as on the continental U.S. or Europe just in a beautiful setting?

Thanks,

Robert

It is much less stressful here than where I moved from in Northern California. Less homeless people, less crime, people much much friendlier. A whole lot less stress. Traffic is less, lines are shorter or not there at all so people are much less "grumpy" all the time. Life here is very relaxing.

Hey,it is as relaxing and slow and deregulated as you want on STJ. Cruz Bay can be a bussling small town or if you want even more peace, go to coral bay, it is peaceful enough for it to be a sailors haven. There are some people who virtually dissappear for months on STJ. STT and STX are more hussle and city like than STJ. Any more questions?

Hello Robert,

I think the reason you see the problem topics is because many people want to know OK yes its a beautiful place but what can I expect to incounter from day to day that is not so great, just so they are prepared.

Some people forget that even though its the islands, promoted as Americas paradise.... people live here, thousands or people... and day to day life has its frustrations like any where else.... people meet mean people in paradise, you get flat tires here, mail get lost here, power goes out, we get rain too, there is a minor amount of traffic, it gets real hot sometimes..... but it is slower!! and less stressful then small citiies in the mainland or Europe.... I say cities because there are towns in the US mainland and Europe where things move reallllllll slow too!!

Better weather for sure!!!! 🙂 Its a hot, sunny, breezy day in the islands today!!
