We have just relocated to St Croix from the states this weekend and now are searching for a home or a rental. We will live here for 2 to 5 years (husband works for federal govt) and are unsure where to start. Does anyone now any real estate agents that specialize in rentals or just a Nice Patient realtal agent 🙂 We will need a patient one because I imagine we will want to see alot of different options if we decide to buy. And any suggestions on different parts of the island to live?

Thank you in advance for any help of advice!

Chantelle,
My husband has taken a job with the fed. govt. also. We will be relocating in Spring.
Please feel free to contact me at my email address and I can share our experience with you. We took a quick 4 day trip down about 2 months ago to specifically look at places to live, and to see where we will be moving our two small children. We met with 2 different real estate agents, saw quite a few condo complexes, and also was shown around by someone that is with the fed. govt. -law enforcement NPS-, so I can share with you what we know. We are excited to move down to St. Croix. We just sold our home and are awaiting FLETC entry. It will be a great life changing and learning experience for our family for the 2 years we will be there. Take care!

Congratulations on your move. My husband and I moved to St. Croix over 3 months ago. The best way to find a place to rent is by word of mouth and by reading the Avis Newspaper. Tell everyone you are looking for a place to rent and chances are they will know someone. The Sunday and Wednesday editions of the Avis have the largest classified sections. As far as buying a place, I would hold off. The real estate market is very slow although it has been picking up. Most houses are on the market for years before selling. If you have questions or would like to discuss island life please feel free to contact me. twunschel@vipowernet.net

Welcome to the island. We've been here for a little over a month. The newspaper ideas are great. Also just drive around looking for "For Rent" signs. That's how we found out place. I got lost while driving around, saw the sign, found my way back to where we were staying, called the number, and the rest is history. If I can be of any help, don't hesitate to email me.

Does anyone have information on finding a government job in the VI? My husband has applied for a position with the INS but are realistic about our posibilities. He is a veteran so we are hoping this will give us some help. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!! Dreaming of the day we can call the VI our home.
