Hey guys I just have a few questions on relocating to the islands. I am a young guy with nothing to hold me back from moving to the islands. The only concern that I have is finding a job that could support me having an apartment and do basic living. The only thing is, I do not have a college degree. Will I still be able to find a decent job? Thank you for your help.

Hi JC71388

Welcome to the board and the islands!!! Have you decided what Island you are moving to yet?

Here is a link to a page on that will give you an overview of the job scene here in the VI. To the left of the page you will also find several other useful links regarding the practicalities of living here: This will be a good start.

https://www.vimovingcenter.com/employment/

Also if you use the search feature on this board, you will also be able to find a great deal of additional information regarding employment.

Good luck and feel free to post any other questions that you have!!!!

🙂

Hey there. Which hotel does he own on St John? Just curious since we're there quite a bit and would love to check it out.

And I'm curious about what hotel your friend's uncle owns because I'm wondering if he's hiring - lol. No, wait- I'm serious 🙂

More expensive to live on STJ vs STT or STX. What skills do you have?

I have many skills such as woodworking/carpentry, welding, musician, equipment sales (technology), some automotive exp as well. Although I hold no certificate or degree in any of them. I will get back with you guys on that hotel in STJ. I'll call up my friend here in a few hours!

Haven't been able to get a hold of my friend as he's busy with finals. sorry guys, I'll still find out the name of his hotel though.
I also have an important question... I know the cost of living on the islands is high compared to here in TX. I have listed some of my skills up in my previous post. Would I be able to find a job that would provide enough income to support myself living on the islands???
Thank You!!

You will probably have to work two jobs or get a roommate.
