Relocation info
We are planning on relocating to St. Croix, and would appreciate some information regarding this move, plus just some general insight which one may believe would help. We have been to the island on numerous occassions, so we are not completely green regarding the basics, however I do have some questions regarding the relocation and purchasing or building a home. Would like some idea on home insurance rates, plus relocating pets, dogs and cats. Furthermore, I would like to know about the current gun laws regarding possesion, bringing them into the island ect.
Thank you for any info any one can supply or direction to obtain info.
There are 30 or so moving stories on this board. Take a look. I think they are under "what to expect".

There's information on this site about guns/gun laws you can search for, it's pretty straight forward, but in our experience and from talking with the locals, it's not advisable to ship your guns here. If your paperwork on them isn't perfect, shipment can be held up indefinitely. You're better off storing or selling them in the states and buying something here.

Hello Mike,
You will find quite a deal of information on this site. At the top of the page on the left side click on Home, and from the navigation you can choose Cost of Living, Employment, Housing, read about taxes, voting, wages... Also use the search feature for this board.
Also Order the Settlers Handbook for the USVI, its shown at the top of the page. Read through it, lots of good relocation/living in the VI information there.
There is a section of Shipping Pets.
There is a thread on this board about gun laws; use the Search Option that is just next to New Topic to look it up.
Home Insurance, information from recent discussions/threads:
