Relocating to beautiful STT on 9/15!
Good day!
My wife and I are relocating to STT on Thursday 9/15 and we are looking for the perfect place to call our home. We have been researching craigslist for a couple of months now but we haven't had much luck (especially with all the scams there!). I figured that I would reach out on here and ask if anyone knows of anything for rent or coming up for rent by oct 1st. Luckily, we have a short term rental set up that will house us for the rest of the month of Sept, but we need to find the perfect place starting Oct 1st. We are 29 and 28yrs old and we have a pup who is like a son to us and who literally eats better than I do! (hehe) He has gone through multiple training classes since he was 10 weeks old and has graduation diplomas to prove it! He is 100% housebroken and has never chewed anything in the house. He is great with other dogs, cats, and kids and doesn't bark. We would love to live on the NORTHSIDE and would love an ocean view of some kind. An area for my pup to run around and explore would be ideal. Also, close to Hull Bay would be nice because it is dog friendly. We are ok with a 1 bedroom or even a studio if the location is right and our budget is $700 to $1200. I hope that everyone is having a lovely day and I want to thank anyone in advance for any time and help you can give!
Sincerely,
Hayden Madison and Miia Von Rancken Madison
Give Warren a call - he owns/handles several rental properties and is very reliable and good to work with. He lives in Hull Bay and knows most of the properties available on this part of the North side.

I second OldTart's suggestion! Warren is GREAT! The last place I rented (in walking distance to Hull Bay) was from him. Good luck!!
The perfect place in the beginning of season for 700-1200 pet friendly and a view...... 🙂 Uhhhhh good luck my friend! Really 1200-1800 IME is more realistic unless you want really.... islandly/rustic lol. If you would have come in May or June you might have found something decent at that price but everyones coming back for season now. It's amazing to see how fast houses are snatched up this time of year on STT.
Best to just get on island - drive around and call for rent signs. Thats how we found all 3 of our rentals. A real estate agent might help but ours was annoying and only wanted to show us east end when we were new to the island. I knew I wanted Northside.
I had two cats when I moved here and stayed at Magens Point Resort for a week while we found a rental and a car. They accept pets but call first since its a dog... that may be different. I also have a friend who rents out several vacation rentals near bologna if you get in a crunch... not sure if he will let you have the dog but he's a huge animal lover and has two himself so maybe.
Northside is the best for sure. Love the area above hull bay and the family vibe of Hull.

That's why the recommendation of Warren Stryker as he's not only a real professional to work with but his area is Hull Bay/Northside where he's owned and lived for many years.
Did I disagree?
Did I disagree?
No. I didn't think my response indicated that I was disagreeing with any disagreement.
Hmmmmm it seemed like you were retorting my experience of my crapy realtor with the guy you use. I guess I didn't understand why you were reiterating you point. Thats good he's on northside. Both my experiences with a rental relator were pretty bad. The second guy actually hinted to me that because it was his listing (which I just found on my own and mentioned the property) that I would say he found it so he could get the money. Looking back I am so mad I did that but lesson learned I guess. It felt shady but I don't know how any of that works so maybe he was right to get that. IDK.

Sorry it seemed so but totally not so. I don't "use" Warren as I'm well settled but I did look at one of his places when trying to help out some newcomers find a place and was impressed with his promptness and his general professional demeanor in showing the place. Always happy to pass on word of good business people to others and in this case particularly since he lives and owns property in the area which the OP is interested in moving to. If they were interested in something in another area I wouldn't have thought (maybe wrongly) to suggest him. That's all.
OldTart,
Thank you so much for your help and insight on more than one occasion!!
You will be able to find a place under 12-1800. You aren't looking for a 2 br, 1500 square foot place with a pool, a view and on the north side. Btw. You can get what I just listed for the low end of the 12-1800 if you do some leg work. We did.
I would wait until you are there and then drive around the Northside because most of my wife's family have some kind of rentals and most don't advertise it except for putting a sign out on the side of the road. Most also don't require a lease either, which is a BIG deal.

Well, how has it been so far??
Inquiring minds....
They only got here three days ago so are probably out looking!
My last rental (that Warren helped me find!) was just above Hull Bay beach, 1 Br/1Bth, A/C in the bedroom, allowed cats, beautiful huge deck over looking the beach AND access to the owner's pool when they weren't there (!!!) for $1,100 per month - that was also in January so deep into season, and it became available. Prior to that, a free-standing cottage in Upper Caret Bay, 1 Br/1Bth, A/C in LR and bedroom, laundry room, allowed pets, nice back deck overlooking the Brasses, very private for $1,000 per month. And, last but not least, apartment in Upper Caret Bay, 2 Br/1 bth, A/C in LR and bedrooms, kitchen, dining area, allowed cats, nice deck overlooking the Brasses, HIGH up Crown Mountain so nice and cool (with avocadoes and mangos galore!!), found that one in January, too, utilities included (!!) for $1,800 per month - that was during my 1st marriage so there were 2 incomes going into that one. You can find places during season, although it is tougher, but it certainly can happen! As Mike said, drive around Northside, check out the signs, make phone calls and go see things until you find what works for you...and/or call Warren to see what he has to offer. If I were to ever live back on STT, Northside is the ONLY place I would live! Hands down, the BEST, in my opinion!! Although, Botany Bay wasn't too shabby of a place to start out 🙂
