Relocating SOON- Looking for advice!
Hello! We are relocating to St John very soon and would like to arrive as prepared as possible. Please help us with any advice and suggestions for finding apartments on St John!
Thank you. Any relocating tips would be greatly appreciated!
hi
have you been there before and do you know that that is the most expensive island in the usvi? if you use craigs list be careful for scams- words like petrol, heat and anything else that does not match a tropical island where the buildings are not taller than 3 stories and most have no elevator.
please read and reread any posts having to do with health care, cost of living, crime and if you have children, education.
also suggested is if you have not been here before that you do a pre move visit
good luck and if you have any questions after reading just ask
apts in stx can go from 650 for a studio to well over 2500 for a house. i am not sure what stj is like.
As well as reading posts and, if you haven't done so already, read all the information on this site. Starting from "home" top left, go through all the headings to "message board" on the right. There's a ton of information there!
Do you have jobs lined up?
Pets?
Enough money to put 1st, last and a security deposit down on a rental and keep you going for a few months, just in case?
Shipping your car or buying one here?
Hello i live on stj for 12 years now and have some rentals in cruz bay call me for more info 340 776 3455 don
Thanks. One of us has a job lined up, we have been there several times, and we have both read this website thoroughly. The biggest issue seems to be finding apartments on St John, and finding additional jobs to try to pursue once there. No car, kids, or pets.
Don- We will call you asap, thank you.
You'll find it will fall into place pretty quickly once you are on island. Arrange for a short-term stay on island and you should be able to secure an apartment pretty fast after a visit to Connections and a few days of phone calls/visits. It is possible to secure an apartment on STJ from off island, but in general (not always) such places are more expensive than market rates and/or have some features making them less desirable and harder to rent locally. Come down, network in person, don't drink too much, and be kind.
don't drink too much, and be kind.
Great advice. First Impressions count here. A good attitude goes a very long way on a small island.
You would be better off contacting a licensed Realtor to help you with your search for rentals in STJ.
I can reccommend St. John Properties/B.J Harris.
