anyway--any1 willing/ wanting to help us (talk to us) please email me at

Christie ...

The best first step you could take is to send for The Settlers Guide for the US Virgin Islands. It's right here on the www.vinow.com website:

http://www.vitraders.com/

When you go to the ordering page, you might also select the Daily News for St. Thomas and also the Island Trader ... these are only a dollar each.

The total comes to less than $25 and will be the best investment you can make toward your future move. It has just about every piece of information you could possible want to know.

And then ... there's this here terriffic message board. The best source of information you could possibly want. Plug in a "key word" in the search box at the top of the page, and you'll be directed to tons of questions and answers that have been asked and answered about your topic. Plug in "schools" and you'll get the questions and answers other visitors have asked. The same for "day care" and so many others. Everybody here is more than happy to help out with whatever information they may have.

Best of luck in planning your move.

Clay

Christie,
Clay gave you some very good advice. We used all of those resources when we were planning our move to St Croix. One of the first things you need to do is decide which island you want to live on. We visited three of the four before we decided on St Croix. It works for us. It may or may not work for you. If I can answer any specific questions, don't hesitate to email me.

Hello Christie,

As Clay and Ric mentioned you have found the board to asking USVI questions and there are lots of people here that are willing to answer your questions. So ask away, you won't have just one contact - you will have many. So read some of the other post, ask the questions you have - join discussions on this board.

Welcome and we look forward to helping you!!

hello/ thanks for replying to my email message
what made u decide on St. Croix? We were looking at the choices and thought St. Thomas being the bigger of the islands/ and seeming to have more resources might be
a better choice for us. Kids in elementary and high school/ and heard there are no high
schools on any of the islands but St. Thomas---How easy is it to use the ferrys for teenagers and or adults for that matter?

Christie, you have some incorrect information. You might want to read through the sections on this site on moving in particular.

St. Croix is the largest island then St. Thomas, then St. John then Water Island - in terms of size of the island. In terms of development and population put St. Thomas first then St. Croix then the others. St. Thomas and St. Croix have similar resources in terms of stores ect... St. Thomas is busier. There are elementary and high schools and a university on St. Thomas and St. Croix. And there is up to grade 11 on St. John. The only island with no schools is Water Island (its the smallest, population around 160). The ferry between St. Thomas and St. John is very easy, short and only $6 round trip - a frequent day trip for teenage friends in a group for the day... And between St. Thomas and St. Croix its a longer trip but also easy to use.

Will your kids be going to public or private school??

you better think real long and hard about putting your kids into public school here. suggest you check to see if schools are accredited and what the education is like in public schools here.
