Relocating
My husband is considering a position with Hess which would be somewhat of a trial for my family and I should we decide to do the Island life for awhile. My concern is first of all for the schooling, I have 3 boys ages 12,10, and 7 exactly how much is it going to cost for these private schools?? Is it hard to find long term (1 year for now) rental houses, nice homes in good neighborhoods that will allow a dog? And what would be a reasonable amount of rent to expect? I understand that the rent is much higher during the peek season. Any idea as to the cost to transport furniture, etc??? Or would it be easier to only bring those personal things and rent something fully furnished? Could any one provide some insight as to the effects this Island life has had if any on their children? My children love new places and adapt well but as I understand many things available on the mainland just will not exist.
And how bareable is the temperature without Air Conditioning, be honest!!
Please advise....................................
I used to live on St. Croix and it is a very beautiful island. Lots of things to do and see. There are two really good schools there. The Good Hope School www.goodhope.k12.vi, and Country Day School 340-778-1974, fax 340-779-3331. Both are kindergarden through 12th and are fully acredited. If you are looking to move for only a year I would suggest putting your things in storage and renting something fully furnished. This way you'll save money on shipping to and from. If you do want to ship I would suggest contacting Tropical Shipping www.tropical.com for further info. Hess has on sight housing. Whomever your husband is speaking with should be able to help you on that. I dont know what they charge there. If you have the opprotunity to move for a year then I would do it. Your children are young enough to remember the adventure for a lifetime. How exciting, go for it!
