A documentary called “Rediscovering Alexander Hamilton” is showing on most PBS stations tonight (Monday, April 11) at 10pm. Check your local listings. Does anybody have the show times to share for WTJX (the PBS station for USVI) or for DirecTV?

On Dish Network, channel 249, it’s showing at these times:
Mon 4/11 10pm-Midnight
Wed 4/13 3am-5am
Sat 4/16 9pm-11pm

Alexander Hamilton lived on St. Croix in his youth, so I assume there will be some local footage.

From http://manifoldproductions.com/RedAleHam.html:
“Beginning life as an illegitimate immigrant from the West Indies, Hamilton was a self-made man. As the first Treasury Secretary, Hamilton's service to the nation went far beyond setting up a branch of government. Then his life ended in the most famous duel in American history. We live in the still unfolding two-century-long boom that he began.”

From an article by the film’s producer/director Michael Pack:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-pack/post_1865_b_840631.html
“…this film is the story of the ‘bastard brat of a Scotch peddler,’ in John Adams words, who went on to shape America's financial and legal system before being shot in a duel by the sitting Vice President, Aaron Burr.”

For those with Dish that don't see channel 249 (National Feed PBS) call Dish at 1-800-333-3474 to order it.
It's ala carte for $1.50 a month last time I looked.

Oh, YES. I've really missed PBS since we got our dish. We didn't even know it was an option. Now we have it again. Thanks, Bob!

I cannot even find a channel with the number 249. It doesn't exist on my Top 200 nor does it show up when I select all channels on the guide which I thought represent all the channels Dish TV provides to Sat 110 & 119.

Guess what? They charge $2.00 a month if you are in the VI. They charge $1.50 a month for the National PBS feed if you live in the states, but if you live in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or the VI then it is $2.00 a month to receive the same programming from the same satellite.

With an OTA (off the air) antenna you can pick up 4 channels from local PBS, WTJX 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4

Did anyone see this? I just watched 1/2 of it last night. They had a nice segment on St. Croix at the beginning, about 20 min worth. C'sted looked good. I found it odd that they interviewed women at the correctional facility :S The USVI tourism board was also a PBS sponsor on the program.

I watched it this weekend (from my Dish DVR).
Definitely worth watching.
The program gave some interesting perspectives, trying to get inside Hamilton's head as to why his personality was shaped the way it was. Hamilton's brilliant mind with his huge ego, big mouth and how mentors guided him and kept him under control....until Washington died.....fascinating.

The segments with the St. Croix women prisoners and the former gang members in Baltimore were an interesting attempt to relate current morals/situations with what was going on in the mid 1700's on STX and the duel. It didn't work for me....but maybe that's just me.

Didn't work for me either. I wish the building where his mother's store in C'sted was still standing... that would be a neat landmark to have. Who owns the lot now?

For Local PBS off air, try a rabbit ear first. Make sure you can return it if it doesn't work though. I'm picking them up on a small outdoor antenna but when I disconnected the cable it was coming in just using the cable as an antenna so a powered rabbit ears should work. Depends alot on location and terrain.
