Recommendations for homeowners insurance?

Hi All,

We are trying to get some quotes for homeowners insurance on houses we are considering in STT. We've asked various homeoners we know on the island about their HO costs and for RE values at approximately the same levels they seem to be paying a wide range of premiums. Does anyone have any recommendations of companies or agencies they've been successful with, or agencies/companies we should avoid?

Thanks,

Hi Lola!

I initially had insurance with Guardian. Their prices were competitive and because they also mantained my auto insurance, it was easier to deal with one company.

However, if you or your partner are over 50, I highly recommend joining AARP and then calling Real Legacy Assurance in PR (which handles the AARP home ins. quotes for the VI). I saved a ton of $$ once we switched.

I highly recommend Marilyn Kreke at Kreke Insurance (in the Guardian building across from Port-of Sale). We shopped around for years before finally settling on Marilyn. She is knowledgeable, she will get you the BEST rates on any type of insurance (home, car, life), and she is a very unique character who is a real hoot. She writes policies for STT and STJ. The Kreke Corportation, 774-3503.

peace.... bert

I would definitely recommend Colin Probyn, from Theodore Tunick & Company., located on St. Thomas at the Tunick building, 1336 Beltjen Road: 340-776-7000. They also have an office in the Marketplace on St. John: 340-775-7001. We currently have both a Homeowners & liability insurance policy with them for our villa in Chocolate Hole on St. John. He's always been prompt with return emails or phone calls. More info:
