Good night! Would you happen to have a recipe for Kalallo? I'm dying to make it and food fair is too far away to wait 🙂

THank you

Hello Paulette,

Welcome Paulette, look forward to more of your post and help/opinions on the message board. 🙂

I do have a Kallaloo recipe. Here goes.

1-1/2 lbs. salt beef, hambone and pig's tail
1-1/2 lbs. fresh fish, Cleaned
3lbs. spinach or mixed greens
2 crabs (backs removed and cleaned)
1 corned conch
12 okras
Hot Pepper and Seasonings to taste and likeness

Soak meat overnight in cold water. Boil meat and conch until tender in three quarts of water. Add the fish and cook for a few more minutes. Remove fish whole with large spoon. Remove bones from fish and flake the fish. Return the de-boned fish to meat mixture, add crabs and continue to cook.

Wash greens and put through grinder or shredder with okras. Add greens and hot pepper to mixture and boil rapidly for about 30 minutes. You might want to add some vinegar to help prevent the appearance of slimy residue - but this is optional. Do skim while boiling - let it cook.

Good when served with fungi.

Let us know how it turns out. St. Thomas Food Fair is only a week or so away - lots of great dishes, deserts and drinks to enjoy there. 🙂
