When we first moved here 4 years ago we did a lot of research on insurance. We found Executive Insurance to be the most reasonable. Homeowners insurance is crazy expensive but Executive was the best choice for us. We also use them for our car insurance. Dafnee is our agent and is great to work with.

If you qualify for AARP, check them out.

Reasonable and homeowners ins just don't go together down here. Just make sure you know who backs your policy and check that company out to see if they pay and how quickly. You don't want to fight for a year or two to get paid. Sometimes the cheap comes out expensive.

Has anyone had to deal with a claim from the AARP insurance company? I inquired with them but they didn't seem to be able to answer some pretty basic homeowners insurance questions for me so I was reluctant to use them (as Betty said, "sometimes the cheap comes out expensive").

Reasonable homeowners insurance is a Oxymoron here in the VI.
Stay away from ANY insurance Company that uses Crawford VI for their claims adjusting!
I got screwed, & a friend of mine once worked as a claims adjuster for them, she was disgusted how/why they were turning down legitimate claims!
She left Crawford as it`s a small island, you run into the people the company you worked for racked over the coals, & you have to live with that!
Awful!
I still remember the claim adjusters name(& loose sleep over it) Brad Worth!
I once commented on this same issue & unconsciously called him Bad Worth(someone here corrected me)!
The structural engineer they got to lie for them was Paul Ferreras(who still refuses to give me the report of his"findings", or even respond to me).

I agree with Margaritagirl about Executive Insurance and Dafnee. I also did a lot of research and spoke with lots of agents. She was by far the best. The policy is with Lloyds of London. Homeowners insurance is one of those "can't believe how expensive" things in VI.
