Hello...
Does anyone knows if there is Ragweed in St. Thomas/St. John??
I am allergic and the season for Ragweed started here in NY.... Just wondering if I'm going to suffer with allergies there and if I should bring my medicines for the allergy.
Thanks

It is always best to bring your meds with you 'just in case'. Besides you will most likely have some ragweed pollen on your clothing you bring with you. So..... good to have it. Also, you can take it on the day you come back home to preempt any allergy attacks as you get home.

Better yet, don't go..... just send me your tickets and paid-for hotel stay and I will make sure I make full use of them for you. I would even be more than happy to give you a pollen report when I get back here to NJ. Will also include photos of white sandy beaches and turquoise waters if you so desire. 😉

I was talking to a 40 year resident the other day and mentioned "pollen count"- she asked what that was...I had to explain that it was something on the news in the states!! I know that people have allergies here, but I think it is mold, etc...I sure could be wrong!

Not sure about ragweed...

I have met a couple folks over the years that moved here because they suffered from terriable allergies and asthma and were actually told by their doctors that their attacks would be less frequent here... I read an article about this also.. but can't find it. I know the article addressed specific allergies and was not generally saying allergies are less likely.

The only flowering plant that ever negatively affected me was the flayboyant... when its in full bloom. And I know of others that are affected by the pollen in this same plant and also when African dust is in the air this often negatively affects people with allergies and asthma....

I would say pack it just in case. If you don't need great... if you do need you will be happy to have it.

Have a great time - do let us know if you left it in your suit case the whole time or if you needed to use the meds.

Most allergies suffered by mainlanders in the islands are to mold.

Arissa, i wish you would have said that earlier before I got my own ticket to go to STT Sept. 6 - 13. Oh well.... maybe next time. 😉
