Quick! Need Advice, leaving tomorrow!
First, I just have to say, WHOOOHOOO!! I'm leaving for St Thomas tomorrow!! Whooohooo!
Ok, second, this is our first, and probably only pre-move visit. We're hoping to come back after the trip, put our house up for sale and as soon as it's sold, move down. So hopefully, no later than August. We are bringing our dog (we know about the summer months airline restriction and plan to figure something out) but we are not hopeful about finding a place we can rent that accepts pets. We're hoping to meet with a real estate agent (none have returned emails from us) and look at places to buy. Any advice on meeting with a realtor? I've seen on these boards that there seems to be a distrust with realtors - like not telling them your price range, they'll try and push us into buying something right now, etc?
Any advice?
Hey Janelle:
Realtors on-island don't seem to use email as frequently as businesses in teh States. I too tried to make contact before moving down, to no avail. However, once you get here you should get return phone calls and be able to meet with someone.
BTW, don't lose hope re. bringing your dog down. Pet-friendly accomodations do exist, you just have to work hard for them. FYI I moved down with 3 cats and 1 60-lb dog.
Advice on realtors - Marsha Maynes at Remax returned my emails. She helped us buy our house and I thought she did well. Another one I know is Shane Foster with Foster Real Estate. We gave our realtor all our specifications - price - #bdrms, etc. They can help you much easier that way and won't waste time showing you places you don't want.
