Questions - diving, bars, kyaking, etc
We are 3 guys with a jeep who like to dive, snorkel, and party on the wilder side. We're staying in a condo on Cowpet Bay. We'll take our jeep over to St Johns once or twice. Two in our group are interested in meeting women in their 30's and I'm trying to be their tour guide.
My questions are for both St Thomas and St Johns - although most of our time will be spent on St Thomas. I realize there are a lot of questions, so please answer what you can in the short time left.
Thanks!!!
1- What are the fun bars on the beach? I know of Iggies and Hull Bay Hideaway but I don't know how much fun we can have
2- What bars do you recommend to be lively and fun on each of these days. Below is the little I've read which does not include St Johns and I don't know if its correct
- Sunday - Turtle Rock Bar, Hull Bay Hideaway
- Monday - Greenhouse
- Tuesday - Green house
- Wednesday - ??
- Thursday - Lattitude 18
3- What are the most lively and wilder bars
4- What are the best beaches to snorkel on - I've heard Coki Point, Sapphire Beach, Secret Harbour, Hull Bay Beach, Haulover Bay (SJ), Leinster Bay (SJ), Trunk Bay (SJ).
5 - What are the best beached to shore dive from? - I'm not sure but I think they me be some of the same above
6 - What is the best dive shop to use - I believe Coki Divers has air tanks for $10 which is good for us.
7 - What is a good cigar shop on the east end or elsewhere?
8 - What are good liquor stores on the east end with good prices?
9 - What are the funest beaches that are on the wilder side like Salomon Bay on SJ? I have a list of beachs for St Thomas but I'm not sure which ones have bars
10 - What are the best Kyaking trips? I've heard of Virgin Island Exotours and Homers and rawak Expeditions(SJ)
11- What is a cool/natural store on the East end for gifts or souvinears - for kids too.
12 - What are a few places to rent a small boat with an outboard motor?
13 - Are there any mountain biking outfits on St Johns? We'd rather bike on a forest than a dry deserted island
14 - What is your most favorite, fun, exciting thing to do on the Island?
Duffy's in Red Hook for loud, drunken fun.
For cigars, try Tobacco Discounters in Port of Sale mall next to Havensight mall by the cruise ship dock.
Cost-u-Less or K-Mart for liquor.
I don't know what you mean about wilder beaches. You might want to ask some of these questions on the Travel Message Board (click on the link up top on the right.)
I agree with Trade. You should ask on the Vacation message board.
I, too am puzzled by your use of "wild." St John is mostly National Park, so the bars are basically in Cruz Bay or Coral Bay. If you are calling Salomon "wild" because you think it is a au naturelle beach, you will discover that public nudity is illegal in the USVI.
On the east end of St Thomas, there are no liquor stores. Instead, you will find liquor, beer and wine at grocery stores such as the Food Center. For boating and diving, try American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook. BTW, while there is great snorkeling off of many beaches, most of the diving is off of the off-shore cays. There are stores there also for souvenirs. You may enjoy Duffy's and the entire Red Hook scene.
I am gathering you haven't been to the VI before?
Please before you go to the vacation message board I need to know your definition of wilder bars and fun please. I am so curious. The only thing my mind can imagine is like a girls gone wild spring break kinda thing. The closest thing I have seen to that is the girl with the coconuts at the St. Paddys Day Parade. Oh well I don't get out much.
When I think of "wild" fun, the USVI is not my first thought.
You want wild go to Jamaica. Hedo II . It will be all the party you can handle ! Just saw it on the tube,if you want a wild swinger type vacation head on down to Playa Del Carmen,Mexico. You would be surprised to see what this quaint little Sea side Mexican town has to offer.
