Question about DMV
I'm wondering if anyone can help:
I am shipping my car to St. John. My problem is that my California registration will expire Oct. 14th. This is the day after we arrive in STJ...and my car will still be making its way to the island (its being picked up from Cali Sept. 27th). So do you need to have your current registation (from the mainland) to be able to register you car in the VI? I'm just wondering if I have to re register my car in Cali for 130 bucks when it won't even be in the state. Any one know? I don't know if it would be a problem or not with customs either.
Thank you
Jen
Does not matter, you have to register the car anew no matter what. It can not drive on the road here without VI registration.

Hi Ronnie
Just to be clear: So when I register my car in the Virgin Islands, they're not going to need to see my previous registation from Cali..and it won't matter that my previous registration has expired? They'll let me register my car no problem in VI, only with my title?
Thank you,
Jen
Yes, exactly. You will have to get a permit to move it off the dock.

Where is the DMV located on STT and does anyone know what time they open?
Thanks in advance
It is right across the Street from the Crown Bay "Pueblo" grocery store.
Hello Victoria,
They are open Monday-Friday from 8am to 2pm. Closed on government holidays.
