Queen size or Full Size

I have searched a bit, but haven't found a specific answer to my question.

We are looking at renting an apartment when we move to St. Croix, but were wondering if most furnished apartments come with full or queen size beds. We would like to bring the right sheet size, and sell the rest before we move.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Most have queen size beds, but you will come across some with double/full beds or king beds. Most apartments will also come with basic bedding provided, but tenants are always wise to bring along any sheets they have as good quality sheets are hard to locate in the island stores.

Every villa or condo I have ever rented in the Vi had King size bed or two twin beds pushed together to make a king size bed. I don't know if the they were regular king or extra long king (Cal king). I don't recall any queen sized. However I defer to Alexandra when it comes to real estate rentals.

Short-term rental villas do tend to be furnished differently than long-term rental condos and apartments. High end villas are more likely to have a king size bed in the master, twins in a second bedroom and queen beds in any third or fourth bedrooms. That wasn't what I thought the poster was asking about, however. There may also be a difference between how properties are furnished from island to island.

If you already have a lot of good quality sheets, you might be wise to hold onto some in each size until you do find out what size of bed is in the apartment you move into. Maybe bring a set of Queen sheets with you and leave the others in a box with family or friends and have them mail you the size you need once you select a property.

There is no good or correct answer to your original question. The fact is we can say "most" rental apartments have queen beds, so you save your queen sheets and get rid of the full. Then you get here and find an apartment that suits you and it has a king or full bed. You are not going to turn it down because of that. Are you?

We've made a big deal out of sheets in previous threads, but it's not really all that bad. K Mart now has 500 thread count sheets! Other places have good quality too.

Bring the queen size. You can always tuck them in a little more on a full sized bed until you get new sheets. You can't make the full work on a queen bed.

meowruff,
If things don't work out with the sheets you bring, you can always have a toga party. I'll come.

I think the Toga Party sounds great! It would be a great way to meet everyone on the island.

I brought King sized and have a full size bed. It works fine, just tucked in more and my husband and I both have plenty of top sheet. I thought it might be a problem with the sheets getting loose and all, but they stay fine. I think it's the humidity that just sticks the sheets in place. (I do miss CRISP DRY bedding!)
