public schools
Hello. I am looking at a place on N shore Rd by Vista Mar Condos "in Queens area?" Public school with the right home life can and does produce well educated people from what I've seen. (I'm a correctional nurse and we have our fair share of private school educated inmates.) I do agree each school and area is different and sometimes private is the only reasonable option. Doing what is best for your children is commendable. As for the price of private, they are going to public school, I've even looked into it here in Ga. My 3 boys, grades 1st, 3rd and 7th have light - tanned skin, looking somewhat but not all white. The race issue does concern me -I've been in the middle all of my life - mom Irish/Native American and dad Black/Native American and my dear hubby - Spanish. My grandmother's house was known as the UN, thanks to all my military uncles and traveling aunties marrying around the globe. I know race issues are everywhere but it can't be any worse than North Ga- OMG. Public schools , race issues and the after school program listed on google search listing of US VI schools( names escape me when I need them the most) Thx for reading and any replies

Race here isn't about skin hue; black transplants from the states are also outsiders.

Well, we made the PMV, and decided to accept the job offer.......now that I told my job here in California, and the world did not end, I am super excited. I know it is a fit for us........met the most amazing friends.....you on this board know who you are! Have my school ideas all solved...;...may change a bit....just due to logistics...but all in all very impressed. Impressed enough to leave Monterey, California, and head on down, slow it down, and enjoy!
See you all in August!
My son goes to All Saints Cathedral School (Anglican/episcopalian). Some of my friends who are teachers send their kids to the catholic school (Sts. Peter and Paul) and Calvary School. I also know some parents that send their kids to Sibbily Elem. and Lockhart Elem and some public middle schools. We're all satisfied with our kids progress. Antilles is the most expensive private school here and the parents that I know are satisfied as well.
So, I guess, decide first what your budget will allow. Once you get to that point, then, you can narrow down the selection of schools. Also, let's not forget, school is just half of the equation, we, the parents have our share as well.
Good luck. Just moved to STT myself with my husband and two boys.
