I visited recently and heard about property that was selling at discounted pricing. Something like forclosers. I was told that was the best way to get a great deal. Is it and how do I findout what is being listed? Some way that I could use the web would be great. What is that kind of sale called.

Hi Tabitha:
I am trying to find out the same thing myself and not having much luck. I am going down in December to look around and get some sun. Who gave you the heads up on that kind of information? If I find anything out I can email you if you give me your email.

Others would be very interested in that information also. If you hear of anything, would it be possible to post?

Hello,

Usually you can get a good deal on a home or property that has been foreclosed, that is what you are refering too. Not to many land foreclosures in the VI, there are from time to time home foreclosures from the banks or SBA - these properties are usually turned over to real estate agents to sell as I understand and was told by several agents.

You can look at the MSL of all USVI properties that are for sale (land, homes, commercial, condos, time share) on all 4 islands, photos, descriptions, prices... online. They are organized by price - least to greatest.

Try going to the real estate sections on this site - they were just updated and have links to web sites. In the Century 21 Site for example the MLS link is right at the top of the page... and you can then do your search and look through properties.

Real Estate info: http://www.vinow.com/usvi/realestate.php

MLS: http://www.usvicentury21.com/ (top of page) other real estate sites have the link also... In the St. John Section there are a couple including the St. John board of realtors, and the St. Croix section is pretty comprehensive in discussing real estate options.

Hope that helps.

Also, it seems that we are in the middle of a buying boom. Properties that have been on the market for a long while are selling. The new EDC compaies are spreading around the bucks. I am not sure if this is bargain basement time.

Economic Development Commission.

Here is a general description from their site.

The territory’s industrial development program is administered by the Economic Development Commission (the EDC). Its basic purpose is the promotion of growth, development and diversification of the Virgin Islands. The EDC is empowered to encourage and assist the creation, development and expansion of businesses in the Virgin Islands.

They have a web site http://edc.vi/edc.html
you can check it out for more information.
