Professional Jobs?

My wife and I have been researching a move to STX for a little while now and would really like to make the jump. We are both in our early thirties living in Dallas and making pretty good money in our jobs/careers. We have done the research on real estate, etc, but the biggest sticking point for me/us right now would be finding a revenue stream (aka a job). I currently have a small web maintenance/development/project management business here, but most of my income comes from "on-site" development/support contracts. Maybe 20% of the work is done remotely.

So, is there any chance that there are programming/development/project management jobs in STX? Does anyone know of a resource or a contact that could get me going in the right direction? I understand that their will likely be a salary drop.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chad

I think there are probably opportunities in your field -- BUT, you are going to have to come down for a couple (or three) weeks and do some legwork.

Texas_Webmaster:

The following ad has been running for some time now:

Software Developer: Technology Company seeks a highly motivated programmer for the development of v1 software. Ideal candidate has experience with .NET, C#, and mobile technologies. jobs@calabashtechnologies.com.

I would also advise you to send a resume to lt@usviking.com

I agree with Linda, you'll need to be online to really get a feel for work that is available for you. My husband and I both moved here without jobs lined up but had good, professional job offers within a month (St. Thomas). We tried to look for work from the mainland before coming down, but it was really difficult.
