Priates of the Caribbean
Just got back from the new movie Priates of the Caribbean, at worlds end.
It was, IMHO< better than the second but st6ill noy as good as the first. A little too many things going on, and not enough of Capt'n Jack Sparrow.
Stay until all of the credits are done, there is a trailer explaining the end? or the sequial?
Where did they film this one?
In the Bahamas. Not part of the Caribbean 🙁
Part of it was filmed in Utah at the Great Salt Lake. I am living in Utah right now, dreaming of VI, and they had a news story about it.
Yes that is right, and most of the shooting was in LA at the studio. But the ocean shots were in the Bahamas. I thought I had heard that some shooting was done in Dominican Republic, but didn't see it in the credits. I may have missed it.
Spectacular CGI effects, but the story was muddled and the characters had to step aside for all the effects. The sequel is never as good as the oriinal. Never.
or course the sequels are never as good. They don't make sequels to mediocre movies very often, so a sequel usually has a very high bar set before them. With the first Pirate's movie, the surprise of Johnny Depp's brilliantly devised character was what made the movie so special and unique. They thought they had to try to find something different to be interesting in the sequels and unfortunately went overboard on the special effects instead of writing a riveting plot line and letting us have fun watching Johnny & Orlando continue what they had started.
Geez louise Alexandra....plot line? We're talking about P of the C., a Disney fantasy ride.
Lot's of slasher movie sequels with not much of a plot line that go on and on.
In fact in the Godfather series, I've always thought that the second was the best.
I think one series that was always good was Indiana Jones. They never tried to "up the level" they just told a different story.
Yes, those were good and word on the street is that they are coming up with another one.
Please tell me it will have Harrison Ford in it......now that Paul Newman has retired, there's little to look forward to these days.....dear lord, I'm showing my age.......
Well, Harrison, though getting old, is still pretty hot.. and if Sean Connery is in it, too, it will be near impossible to dislike. Of course, I have been hearing this rumor for years.. anyone know for sure if it is actually filming?
I read about it in a trade magazine, but here's the link with "some" pre production info.

Thanks, Promoguy! Sweet. Too bad John Ryhs-Davies isn't going to be in it.. I love him.
Ooooooooooh, me too!!! I believe he is in rehab at the moment, but true to being a good Welsh lad it is for the booze, not the drugs, don't you know.
Which one is he?
He played Johnny Cash in 'Walk the line'.
Although I agree he is totally beautiful and a wonderful actor, John Ryhs-Davies was not in walk the line that walk the line as johnny cash that was the gorgeous Joaquin Phoenix. John done several movies and most recently his The Tudors is out on showtime.
That's right! Sorry, wasn't John Ryhs-Davies in a movie as Elvis or have I lost it completely? Please tell me I am not crazy! Maybe I should have some coffee before posting...
Yeah your right it was a elvis movie, it was tickling my brain as well.
Article published some time ago but for this posting, some might find interesting: http://www.onepaper.com/stthomasvi/?v=d&i=&s=News:Local&p=1153543665
I thought i heard a lot of filming was done in Dominica, WI...i believe part 2 had a lot of this scenery, part 3, not sure.
There were a few scenes that had to be Dominica as the island had huge hills, but I could see some of it in the Bahamas as well and some, well I don't want to give away anything, but I couldn't figure out where they were unless it was a studio.
I loved the movie, but I loved all three. Did anyone else stay to the end of the credits to see the trailer/ending/teaser to a sequel? The cleaning crew didn't even know that there was more to the movie. I had heard from one of the previous posts about it and only one other family stayed with us.
