Preferred Banks / School Uniforms / AT&T GoPhone - STX

Regarding St. Croix, 3 random topics, I know, but all popped into my head yesterday when going over my current info notebook.

*What bank on the island is preferred? Any pros/cons for each bank would be greatly appreciated!

*I noticed the public high schools require full uniforms. Do the junior highs and elementary schools also require uniform?

*From browsing through the topics already posted, it looks like more people have luck with AT&T cell phone service and I am planning on switching to them before the move. Do the GoPhones that AT&T offer have the same luck with service? I am thinking about getting a couple of the kids one of those.

Thank you in advance for any feedback! 🙂

I'd probably go with Bank of St. Croix if I were not a business owner.

Yes, for some strange reason, public school kids wear uniforms but most private schools don't unless its religious school.

ATT is really the only reliable national carrier.

Just my opinion!

I use att go phone. Never a problem. $41 if you do automatic debit. Data usage never a problem either.

Be aware that AT&T service is pretty bad on the East End. The (very low) tower is at Cheeseburgers in Paradise restaurant so places like The Reef golf course, Duggan's restaurant, Divi Carina and Villa Madeline are behind the shadow of the hill.

There is a tower on top of Cotton Valley which has AT&T (and Broadband VI) covering the east end. Cell service is shaky at Villa Madeline, but it works in the pool area of the Divi and at Duggans Reef.

My ATT Go Phone works extremely well - having just unlimited calling and text is very affordable and auto pay online is even cheaper - and no contract required.

Yes - ATT in Crown Bay STT - a 340 Number - you choose and purchase the phone type - all kinds of options there - excellent post purchase service - with no data plan I can use internet when any wifi is available - the only noticeable downside for me is that without a data plan the GPS function does not work if I could need it while driving in the states - calling and texting is unlimited and the total cost excluding the phone purchase is $25 month if I pay online.

I purchased a wireless phone from ATT so I could transfer my STT Innovative number and bring with me to FL rather than giving it up.
Worked well. Same $25 per month.
Phone was not included of course.
Can't remember what it cost but it was a 3 unit home system and monthly charge is $25.
I didn't even have internet access set up and it worked fine.
Do yourself a favor tho, AT&T stores are always busy.
Make an appointment if you're going in otherwise, it'll be a wait.
If you're thinking about doing what I did with transferring my phone number, have your account number and your Innovative password or it'll take a trip to Innovative to complete the transfer.

Elementary age as well? When we move, I will have 1 in junior high and the rest in elementary and we will be getting there with about 2 weeks before school will begin. I want to be prepared and find uniforms ASAP if needed, and also if they will all be required to wear uniforms, makes no sense to bring all of their clothes and we can save some packing room. 🙂

All children in public schools wear uniforms. And they will need PE uniforms as well (purchased through the school). Some of the private schools also wear uniforms, usually an embroidered polo shirt purchased through the school. I have bought uniforms for my son through Walmart.com and Oldnavy.com. Each school has a different uniform, so you will need to get with the schools to see what colors you need to purchase. They have been hell bent this year on uniform compliance, so make sure you get the right colors and fit. They will need all white or all black socks and shoes as well for the public schools. There are also restrictions on jewelry.

As far as banking goes, I bank here st Bank of St. Croix. A little inconvenient now that we've moved to Frederiksted. But, lines there are never as long as Scotia Bank, IMO.
Iced lived here for years but, also, keep current bank account in my home state as well. Has come in handy for various reasons.
ATT is only way to go on phones here, also, IMO.
We haven no kids of school age. Good luck!
