Prediction Game
How well can you predict the answers of your fellow vimovingcenter-mates?
Send me a PRIVATE MESSAGE with your answers to the following questions.
DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS HERE!
You will score 1 point for each person who gave the same answer that you did. This is sort of like Family Feud, where they surveyed 100 people and the top answers are on the board, except that you guys will be the people surveyed.
Answers are due by Sunday 10/10/10 at 10:10am. I will reveal everybody’s answers and scores here after that. I will be the judge, and I will decide whether answers are close enough to be considered “the same.” There is no prize, just fun (I hope).
1. Name an island in the USVI.
2. Give the username of a frequent moving board participant (excluding STXBob).
3. Name a tree commonly found in the USVI (excluding any kind of palm tree).
4. Give the full name of a current USVI senator.
5. Name a topic of frequent discussion on the moving board.
6. Name a brand of beer which is served in the USVI.
7. Name a restaurant or bar in Cruz Bay.
8. Name something commonly found in stateside homes which is NOT commonly found in USVI homes.
Remember: Send me a PRIVATE MESSAGE and DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS HERE!
Also, do not post on this thread any suggested answers or anything that might influence the answers of others. After the deadline on Sunday 10/10/10 at 10:10am, you can talk about the answers all you want.
I predict it will rain.
15 players have responded so far. If anybody else wants to play, please see above, and respond to me by Private Message by Sunday 10/10/10 at 10:10am. Thanks.
The deadline has passed, and the results are in. We had 17 players. You scored 1 point for each person who answered the same as you. As the judge, I decided whether answers were close enough to be considered “the same.” There were some tough calls, but I tried not to lose sleep over my decisions. If you were the only person to give your answer, you still got 1 point. If you did not answer a question, you got 0 points for it. I allowed answers even if they were technically wrong. For example, two people answered “Skinny Legs” for the Cruz Bay restaurant/bar question, even though it’s in Coral Bay.
If you were not one of the 17 players, you can still play along at home as follows: Before reading the answers below, go up and re-read the questions, write down your answers, and score yourself based on how everybody else answered below.
The results are presented in three parts (A, B and C).
Thanks for playing!

Quite fun, thanks for hosting!
If they answered Carib or Presidente they must be be rum drinkers. Great fun - thanks.
I did terrible!! And Exit Zero...you are spot on! I answered Carib, I don't drink beer 😀 Thanks STXBob!
If they didn't answer Carib they have no taste:D
I didn't play, but I would have thought Blackbeard's Ale would have gotten a couple of mentions since it is the Virgin Islands beer (kinda).
Blackbeard is brewed and bottled in Minnesota.
Blackbeard is brewed and bottled in Minnesota.
Maybe.
I've read that the version of BB Ale found stateside is brewed in Minnesota.
But shipped here? Perhaps. Blackbeardale.com seems defunct. Is the store in Havensight still open? Or is that long gone?
It is very common for beers to be brewed under contract by a brewer in the area where the beer is to be distributed. Saves on transportation, cost of ingredients, and preserves freshness.
Brewing is energy intensive, and I imagine it's difficult to get the quality ingredients to consistently brew the same beer.
All of which is to PRAISE Ft. Christian Brew Pub on StX for its commitment to local brewing and providing many tasty varieties.
I had their Ocktoberfest on Saturday. It was very good, and I look forward to repeatedly supporting their efforts. 😎
I had the Ocktoberfest beer at the Fort Christian Brew Pub on STX last night. It was good, in spite of not being very cold. To me, that's the sign of a good beer. Most beer served in the US is only drinkable when cold, because that hides much of the taste.

That's why I said "kinda".:-)
