My husband and I are contemplating a move/retirement to St. Croix. We will be down in early 2005 for a 10 day visit. We've read all the posts about living on an island, checking it out fully etc. but want to know if there are any parts of the island we should avoid. We are contemplating buying a vacation home for part time use until we're ready. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Jewel, My husband and I just bought a condo for our retirement part time living. We researched a while before making our decision. One we commited life dealt us a new kink and we're living in Africa. Life is just full of surprises.
I would highly recommend living in STX and we will return at the end of this contract. Meet the locals, follow the information on this board and plan realistically.
