Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know how much it costs to mail post cards, etc. from the USVI back to the US?

I leave a week from Friday and I can't wait. This board has been a great resource!

regards from Texas,
Jeff

As far as I know, postage is the same as they are in the states since they are a part of the US postal service. 🙂

I think it costs more to mail to the Republic of Texas, otherwise the postage is the same as in the states.

I didn't know that. What I should have originally asked was is it necessary to buy VI stamps (if there is such a thing) or can I just use US stamps?

Thanks from the Republic of Texas,
Jeff

Hey Jeff...

I think some of the posters a having some fun with you.....the Virgins are a US Territory, and include all the benifits of statehood, without the state. Enjoy your visit, postage is the same for the US, although we wonder about Texas sometimes...(couldn't help myself).....

Hello Jeff,

I agree with Andrew - your question is getting a bit of fun poked at it. Hope you had a sense of humor about it. 🙂

No Virgin Islands stamps per se... we use US stamps as the postal system in the USVI is the US Postal System.

Last set of stamps I bought here on St. Thomas were .37 cent stamps with the US flag on them. And the last set of Post Card stamps I got were .23 cent stamps with George Washington - doesn't get more US then that!!

Have a great trip!!

The postage is the same as anywhere else in the U.S.; BUT...

The mail is flown from here to Puerto Rico for sorting; then it goes on to its address. This is a recent change that frustrates many of us. As a result, mail takes longer, sometimes a day or two, sometimes a week or more. If timeliness is an issue (with the holidays and all), bear that in mind.

Yes guys, I have a sense of humor, LOL. That's why I rephrased the question.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I'll post a trip report when I get back.

regards from Texas,
Jeff
