Post your pics of STT
My flight for my relocation is booked, I'll be showing up July 29 and i'm getting a little antsy here in chicago. I think most of it is that as much reading as I've been doing, I still have no idea what to expect visually when I step off that plane. Anyone want to post pics they've taken on STT, particularly Charlotte Amalie?
I think this would be something cool for the board to have - pictures of random places on each island.
Go to the Vacation message board and on top there is a drop down with pictures for you!

That's pretty cool, but actually what I'm looking for is pictures of reality on the island. You hear about bad areas and poor roads and what "real life" looks like on STT, but all of the pictures are brochure-grade stuff that showcases things that are really great.
I guess what I'm really after is pictures of typical downtown places you'd find yourself on a day to day basis in Charlotte Amalie, or typical roads you travel on a day to day basis, what the area looks like that you go to for grocery shopping, etc. Things that i'm bound to see a lot of while I'm living there.
Take a look at google earth. The newer version has links where people have uploaded their own photos of specific areas of town, restaurants beaches, etc.
I think I saw a video on youtube of driving on the islands. I don't know the title but I'm sure somebody on the forum can point you in the right direction. (Left Lane for sure)!!
Here is a link:

It has some tourists driving up Donkey Hill which is on the main road. It is one of the steeper hills on the main roads.

trainwreck: Do you look at the on-line papers? The Source (One Paper) and The Virgin Islands Daily News, also the St John Tradewinds have pictures of things happening around the territory. Also Island Paul may have some from when he was living here?
No I didn't look at the online papers, I figured they would have typical nice looking photos like most papers here have, I did appreciate that link to the drive up donkey hill, looked interesting. I'll be down there in 3 days so I guess i'm gonna see for myself, I bought a really nice camera so next time someone asks I guess I'll try to fill the need.
Thanks!
trainwreck82,
Go to then search united states virgin islands. The site has videos by people driving around island and taking shots out the window. I know it's a little late as you are leaving shortly. I had a log-in problem.
