Post Offices Open for P O Box Checks Today?
Yeah, I don't know why STJ PO boxes are cheaper than STT -- you would think, in light of supply and demand, that they would be more expensive like everything else on STJ. USPS must use a formula based on zip code population or something else that doesn't actually make sense for the VIs.
And no, there is no discount based on number of years you've had the box. There isn't even a discount for paying for a full year vs. paying for only 6 months.
Most of the private boxes give you a discount if you pay for the year, but since they're more expensive, the smallest p.o. box is still cheaper.
I have 5 months to decide what to do about my Netflix and packages, but I'm leaning toward getting another private box that is accessible on Sundays.

Ha, ha, ha! When did anything ever make sense here, fdr?!!;)

When things do, I often worry that I'm missing something! :@)
At the stateside PO, if you receive a package or something that doesn't fit in your PO, they will put it in a larger temporary PO and put the key in your box with a note. Just take the key and go open the other box and voila. They don't do that at the VI PO?
Nope. They put a yellow form in your box and you have to take that yellow form to a clerk at the counter. You usually have to wait in line, and some post offices are busier than others.
As to cost, if you've had your box for a long time, your rent is probably less than current rates. I just got mine last year.
Ah, the yellow form. They use those stateside too for packages too large to fit on the temporary boxes.
The Frenchtown Post Office on St Thomas has those large boxes for packages, but I was told the keys weren't sent so until then, the yellow form prevails.
Sugar Estate PO has large boxes too but everyone still gets the yellow slip.
I hate it when they don't have a package only line and the postal employees only takes one customer at a time. Usually, you can get in line and one of the postal employees will call5 people at a time with slips to pick up their packages.

HUGE boxes have recently been installed there which may be the same as those Ms411 refers to.
Yes, those are the ones.
