Hello,

St. John: 4,197
St. John: Population Breakdown by Area*
Central: 746
Coral Bay: 649
Cruz Bay: 2,743
East End: 59

*2000 census

The island is mostly National Park lands. So with only about a quarter of the island being available for development yes those areas certainly could get densely populated since thats all thats available and you would of course see a vast difference when driving through no developed lands and then seeing 10-15 houses in one area - however the property on St. John is very very expensive ranging from $40,000 to 2.5 million or more for less then an acre sometimes only half an acre which keeps a level of check on the feasiability of development. So no right now its not overpopulated in my opinion.

The island is small so yes when there are lots of visitors in town the main areas like Cruz Bay, Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Annaberg can appear busy. And if the population grew it is possiable the small island would become overpopulated.

Also, I don't know the breakdown of ethnicity and age for each island, but for the usvi as a whole it is.

0-14 years: 26% (male 16,685; female 15,794)
15-64 years: 64.4% (male 36,241; female 44,157)
65 years and over: 9.5% (male 5,078; female 6,823) (2003 est.)

black 78%, white 10%, other 12%
note: West Indian 81% (49% born in the Virgin Islands and 32% born elsewhere in the West Indies), US mainland 13%, Puerto Rican 4%, other 2%

So up until 14 years of age the men outnumber the women?

After that the women outnumber the men?

This certainly calls for an investigation. Given this trend I would expect to see a preponderance of male pictures on the St. Thomas Dairy milk cartons.

Personally I like the ratio, but I could rethink my position if I happen to become one of those men who've disappeared after turning 14 years old.
