PMV Where to stay?

Good Morning!
I am starting to make arrangements for my PMV and trying to decide where to stay. I'd like to be able to get a good feel for island life, check out different areas and neighborhoods that I might like to live in, etc. Of course I'll rent a car so I can move freely about the island, but what is a good starting location? Would it be better to stay near Christiansted? I am single female, most likely making the trip on my own. Obviously would like to stay in a safe place until I know my way around.
Thanks!

I fyou have a car a good choice might be the Arawak Inn. It's small and out on the northshore.

For a single female, Arawak Inn is new, nice, no-nonsense, peaceful, clean, quiet, and out of the way. It is locally owned by a married retired couple and the stay comes with a breakfast that is FABULOUS! There is a small cute pool there, too, & breezy view. Ask for a second-story room.

If you want to spend more money, the Divi out East is nice, and is across from the casino. Both have plenty parking. If you want to party, I'd stay in downtown Christiansted, but would worry about your car getting broken into and the parking.... they say for downtown Comanche Club is newly renovated (on the inside, at least,--outside=old) and is nice, but I haven't seen it inside & don't know where you would park. Tamarind Reef is nice, too.

Hi,
How long, and when, are you planning for your PMV? I have a small apartment complex 3 miles west of C'sted. We offer short-term and long-term rentals. Just depends on when and what size you need. Our short term rates are competitive to longer term, not nearly as high as a hotel. We do not offer hotel amenities, so you get a better feel for living on island. Our minimum rental is one month, but even if you only stay a couple of weeks, it's usually a far better deal. You can check out our website at http://www.virginislandsrentals.com. I have a one bedroom available immediately.

Thanks,

Thanks Juanita,
I'm planning my visit for possibly the end of October into early November. And although I know the longer the better for a PMV, I'll probably only stay about a week to 10 days. I'm saving like crazy to make the move, so I don't want to spend the money (or take the time off of work) for longer than that. But I'd love to check out what you have for rent for a long term after I move. PM me your contact info if you'd like.

I checked out online the Arawak Inn as per the advice from Linda. It looks perfect, and very reasonable. Thanks Linda. But I wonder, is the location pretty remote? Would I be too far out there? Or is this a good starting point to explore the other areas.

I've also read a lot of posts where people recommend Judiths Fancy. Is this the name of a town? Where exactly is it?

Thanks again for all the advice.
