I've heard that sometimes plasma TV's need to be 'recharged'. I don't know if that's the case with ours, but I'd love to find someone who knows about it.
A quarter of the screen went black, and yesterday a new black strip appeared down the middle.

Anyone know anyone or know anything about this ?

GET AN LCD
WE WERE TOLD THAT THE POWER TO OUR HOUSE DOES NOT SUPPORT THE POWER NEEDED FOR A PLASMA
WE HAD MANY AND SOME SHIPPED FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO REPLACE SOME AND THEY KEPT BREAKING. WE SOLD IT TO SOMEONE ELSE, WE NOW HAVE AN LCD WITH NO PROBLEMS

Would first like to try to salvage this one if possible --- not in the position to buy a new TV at this time.

When you say they 'broke' ... broke how ? Screen went black, or something else ?

The three year old Plasma I had went bad. Repairman swapped out power supply, mother board, but could not solve all the problems. The traces leading to the display screen had developed corrosion. After three months of trying we ended up junking the unit.

If the TV is a few years old between WAPA and the corrosion it may be done for. If mine could have been repaired the replacement parts would have run to approximately $400.

It maybe time to look at a new TV.
