Planning to move...
Its hard to plan a move to the VI. You pretty much have to have a PMV or come down and find a short term until you find a long term rental. You can't get a job until your there, which is fair as I am sure half the people that say they are coming, don't. And there is no information out there other then this site and vacation/tourist sites (that I can find). Its frustrating I guess.
Pretty much if you have the money, have the courage, want to do it and know what your getting into....... you just have to go for it!

Jammin,
If you were going to move from the east coast to the west coast in the USA. What would you do different, and what resources would be available to you? Would there be someone to hold your hand, show you the ropes, give you some money, room, food and job. Is it courage or desire to make a change? There's a wealth of information on this board available to you, stories to include been there done that. See if they fit!
I had no info at all before I moved here pre-internet. I had a job interview, came for the first time for that, left the next day & was back down here in a week with 2 suitcases. You either do it or you don't. Nobody else can do it for you.
Hi jammin,
When you say there is no information out there.....What would you like to know? I bet we can tell you. We might suggest you use the search option or make suggestions of where you can find info on your own, but someone will know something about pretty much anything you ask. So, fire away!
when i came, even though my husband is from here we had to do it as if we didn't really know anybody a few thousand here and there and lots of courage vi nice mon.
How is the University there? Would it be possible to commute from Red Hook to the University? Does anyone know of any short terms in Red Hook?
Thanks so much for the help!
jam: You kinda said it all in your first post. Most UVI students live a bit closer to campus. What if you have an 8:00am class? You'd have to be hoofin' it awfully early. If you are coming down to go to UVI, you might want to look into dorm living for the first semester. Gets you involved with university life and you don't have to worry about transportation!
What is it about Red Hook that interests you?
Im not looking to be a full time student, just part time. The UVI is not my main reason for coming. So I may commute only a few days a week if I did take classes. Im close to graduating so I am looking just to finish up down there by taking a few hours.
I like Red Hook because of the young crowd, bar jobs, boat jobs, etc. When I visited it just seemed like the right area for me.
