Planning a Visit for May
Hi Everyone,
First off I would like to thank everyone who replied to my previous post inquiring about realtor recommendations. Your experiences will come in handy as I will be contacting some of them very soon. Thanks.
I am planning a trip to visit all three islands sometime at the end of May. I started to look into airfare and am happy to see that it'll only cost me $326 to fly over to STT. That rate seems very reasonable. Now here come my questions.
I don't know where to stay. I am looking for conveniently located, clean, reasonably priced hotels on St. Croix and St. Thomas. Basically I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck. What are the first hotels that come to mind?
I plan to vist for 7 to 10 days. Should I make reservations for a hotel on both islands or is commuting painless enough that I can just get one hotel and commute back when I'm done touring the other islands?
Thanks again,
Bogdan
St Croix would be a stay. Your first two or three nights probably. I would recommend The Pink Fancy. Clean, comfortable and convient walking to C'sted harbor, eating, shopping and sightseeing. The host, Motasem will arrange tours, taxi pick ups etc.
To get an overview of the island do the Sweeney St Croix safari tour. Its fun! The best part is if you have a place on StT to store the majority of your belongings for the few days, you can take the Seaplane and the dock is just a short walk to the Pink Fancy. Stay the night or two nights and than take the Seaplane back to StT.
Hello Bogdan
Which island is your ticket flying into? And can you fly into one island and out of the other for the same price?
Commuting between St. Croix and St. Thomas is costy if you are doing it for a few days best bet is stay on each island a few days. You can commute easily from St. Thomas to St. John and to Water Island - so you need only stay on St. Croix and on St. Thomas.
Ideally you could fly into St. Croix stay a few days then seaplane one way to St. Thomas stay a few days and fly out of St. Thomas back home.
On St. Thomas you can try:

Islander,
Thanks for the response.
I planned on flying to STT because it was cheaper. I didn't think about flying into STX and leaving through STT. I looked into it and it would cost me $510 to fly to STX then from STX to STT then back to the states. So that makes it about $190 more expensive than just flying to to and from STT.
What are all the available kinds of transportation between STX and STT and rougly how much does it cost? As islanders, how would you travel between STT and STX taking cost and convenience into consideration. Is travel to STX from STT and then back to STT for under $190 possible?
How frequently do ferries travel back and forth from STJ? How much should I expect to pay for a roundtrip from STT to STJ?
Thanks,
Bogdan
Hello Bogdan,
Did you also get a price for flying into St. Thomas and out of St. Croix (Its likely the same price as into St. Croix out of St. Thomas but might be worth looking at)?
Definately just do round trip in/out of St. Thomas if its $190 cheaper. You can take the Seaplane from St. Thomas to St. Croix round trip for around $80-$110. The seaplane and other air carriers are your only options for getting between St. Thomas and St. Croix in the summer months. During the winter/spring months there is a fast ferry that is around $60 round trip or there abouts. You can see the ferry/seaplane options at

There is an hourly ferry between St. Thomas and St. John and its just $6 round trip and a short 20 minute ride so no trouble there. If you have a rental car on St. Thomas you could take the car over on the car barge to St. John also. The same link mentioned above has the St. John ferry info and the car barge info.
