It is time for us to upgrade our cell phones and as we look ahead we want to connect with the carrier that is used most on the island.  So..which carrier is the best for cell coverage?

My personal experience is only AT&T has phone plans that make sense especially if you want coverage in U.S. and  U S Virgin Islands. They have most coverage in VI.   I took out AT&T when we lived on St Croix and still have it today.

AT&T has worked best for us on STX.

There seems to be some conflicting information out there about Verizon. We had them years ago before our permanent move down here. During visits to the VI, if we called back to the states we got slapped with “international service” fees. I have heard Verizon has changed their policy on the matter, but then again I’ve heard the haven’t.

Many mainland based companies see the USVI as an international address for billing (and shipping especially). AT&T always had the territory included in their “domestic packages”

Before you make a decision on any cell provider I’d make sure about what their policy is concerning the USVI.

AT&T had (has?) the best coverage on STX. Viya now offers 4G coverage, no idea how good it is.  I think it's all new since Maria.  I have AT&T now but going to check into AARP consumer cellular which I think uses AT&T infrastructure.

We decided to move ahead with AT&T.  At each junature with the company we were assured that St Thomas was a domestic call.  Domestic calling is important to us as when we move we are leaving five families (children) and grandchildren behind☺.

I don't know why anyone has anything *but* AT&T. ?

Sprint is the other provider, but people complain about it all the time.

Yup, AT&T was up and running over most of STX shortly after Maria.  Biggest issue was people stealing the cell tower generators.

What ever happened to those knuckleheads that stole, then a few days later returned, the AT&T generator by Gallows Bay. I remember the governor saying they found fingerprints and the thieves were as good as caught.

Surely they didn’t slip through the VIPD’s fingers?

Typical law enforcement in the VI.
