Phone help
My check finally cleared! Yea! Now the adventure can continue! Now I would like your input on those burning questions on how best to spend it (on phones, that is)...
Been searching the AT&T site on Go Phones. Can these be purchased at the local store or only online? Couldn't find any info on the local side. I realize it's more expensive then being on contract but being an old f**t I could expire before the 2 year plan runs out and that would be such a waste :}
If I go back to the states for a visit will the plan go with it?
Can I keep the number I have from my NM Alltel phone? That would be nice since I have business cards.
The plan I'm looking at is either the $3/day or $1/day Go Phone. I looked at the other monthly GP plan but not too crazy about having my account automatically debited.
Also don't need a fancy phone so am looking at the one for $15.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to life in the left lane!

Good morning NovaNut,
Head to the AT&T store for the most up-to-date answers to all your questions -- they do carry Go Phones at the store. Your plan will work stateside anywhere you have the AT&T network, but I don't know about number portability down here.
Good luck!
Many Thanks FDR! I'll be heading that way soon...
AT&T go phones are much less expensive at Radio Shack.
Thanks Bombi.
Are they in the same location as the AT&T store? Do they offer the same deals? The phone I looked at online was a no-frills cheapy at $15. although I feel certain they'll be 'out of stock' when I request one.
If you can get a 340 area code it will help - many folks will not return off island area code #'s if they will incur long distance charges on their land line.
Good point. Thanks.
Radio Shack is in the Sunny Isle Plaza near the new food court.
I'll be on island in 3 months and just stopped by the ATT store here in Atlanta and spoke with the guy about my move. I don't know for certain that what he said was factual...I'm not actually doing anything for a few months...but he said that the "number change" thing was very simple. Heck...he wanted to give me a USVI number right then and there.
Not sure what a "go phone" is but I was lead to believe that the whole deal was quite simple and could be done quickly.
I'm headin to Radio Shack on the morrow.
Thanks again for everyone's help!
