Good question. Most posts on the forum relate to a pet cat or dog. As for a canary, that is new to me. I too am wondering if the same rules apply. Good luck!

Hello Robert,

American Airlines has a large section on what animals they allow to fly...

Here is a bit ...

Household Birds (defined as a bird that can be domesticated and typically resides in the home. No poultry such as ducks or chickens, wild, undomesticated or birds of prey are accepted.)

You might visit the site:

http://www.aa.com/content/customerService/baggage/pets.jhtml#Types%20of%20Pets%20Allowed

I called both customs and agriculture/animal inspection to ask - but no answer at either. Ill try again later. However you might call your airline and ask because its really them you go through to get to St. Thomas... on landing in St. Thomas you don't pass through customs... so it would be the airlines and perhaps customs at your local airport that might have regulations on this.

It would appear the regulations are the same as dogs and cats... a certificate stating that the animal is healthy... from your vet. (this is mentioned in the AA site... )
