Hey all,

Someone had recently posted a link to something which stated how many murders in the territory this year, as compared to population, and where that stands in regards to the national average. I have searched the forum, but I can't find it.

Does anyone remember that link?

Thanks a lot,

Beth

I got this data from a Source article dated July 15, 2009. I think there have been at least three more murders (just on STX) since publication:

This year, the V.I. has recorded 32 murders to date in a population of just more than 100,000, compared to an average annual rate of 5.9 per 100,000 residents nationwide, according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Report.

lol...this is the one that always gets everyone mad at me. People all want to believe we don't have any crime or its not that bad, but thats just very far from the truth.

The WORST part is that only about 1/4 of the homicides have arrests. Scary...

Anyone wishing to report an incident of crime, please do so at www.usvicrimelog.blogspot.com

Too many crimes are going unreported to the community...I personally would like to know what is happening, particularly in my neighborhood...

The statistics for deadly shooting are alarming enough, but what about statistics for the number of non-fatal shootings? There are even more of those...
