After reading all of the stuff you have to do to get a car legalized and get a driving license, you people have the patience of Job. If a person is going to own a house in the islands, live in it for maybe six months of the year, and then return to the continent, do you still have to get a VI driver's license every time you come?

No. But any vehicle you drive here must be registered here. You won't see plates here from different states, just the USVI.

Hello Loggy,

A stateside license is good for 90 days; if you ever get stopped and you are asked about the stateside license - you just say you don't live here permanently and arrived a few weeks ago and you are leaving in a few weeks.

Your car does have to be registered here though.

Loggy: I hope you, too, develop the patience of Job if you are to live here for six months!! 😉

I've been told that I have a lot of patience. We've lived around the world, and fit in easily. I've got some health concerns now that require me to be in a warm climate to feel well. Thanks for all the replies.
