I was loving the article until the part where WAPA has to approve the equipment and our electric costs would not change. I have never gotten over how much my monthly WAPA bills are. I live in Chicago most of the year, the hands down, highest electric utlity costs of any state in the union. We are constantly on the backs of our so called politicians to help lower energy costs here and yet, the monthly bill for my large 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home here where we live and consume 24/7 is never, ever, even with air conditioning running around the clock over $250/month!!!!!!! My VACANT home in St Croix runs me $400/month with only a pool pump running. I seriously don't know how anyone is able to live there and pay the monthly bill, I have had to raise the rental rates that I charges guests in my house so many times to help with the stupid WAPA and their stupid LEAC bills. Forgive me if I have little to no hope that WAPA will be any part of any solution. Now, I fully support making it easier for companies who sell alternative energy options, but there again, I am sure the government will find a way to mess that up.

The program you are refering to is a solar hot water heater installed (at no cost to you)....Someone else will own it until it is paid off by the savings incurred. If you are spending 400/month...its more than a pool pump... I live in a 3bdrm house and have a $100 bill and all my appliances are electric(td) Being frugal and knowing exactly what spins your meter is key!

So, you use around 300-350 KWH?
That`s very good!
I have propane cooking,& no sun drier.
I have a hard time keeping below 400 KWH & I used to live on aboat...
Which reminds me,as much as WAPA is terrible(& it is), it still beats trying to produce power retail yourself!
