partying in the islands
my college student is planning a trip to the islands with other friends from their dorm
a concern for myself and the other parents is the availibility of marijuana and other recreational drugs. I have been told that the islands have a substansial Rasta. population so i'm wondering how tolerant the islands are of such things. How worried should I be about this issue
Marijuana possession is unlawful in the U.S. Virgin Islands and is punished to the same extent as in your home stateside. That said, if your college student is inclined to procure some, s/he can probably do so (as s/he could do back in the States). If this is a concern for you, I would stress to your child that buying illegal drugs in an unfamilar place is remarkably stupid and potentially very dangerous.
Oh, and I almost forgot: if they are heading over to the British Virgin Islands, hallucenigenic mushrooms are legal there. So...well, you get the picture. If you hear them speak of Bomba's, a full-moon party, and some mushroom tea, well....
🙂
it's super easy to get any drug you need in the dorms on any campus across the U.S.A., so hopefully you've taught your kid well. Tell them to have a good time and be smart.
Joan, what is the age range and is the group boys or girls or both??

Common Sinse could not have said it any better.
Drugs are so easy to get on any college campus across the states. So if your child gets drugs in the virgin islands chances are more than good that they do drugs in college.
My advice to them is to USE YOUR HEADS
Trouble is very easy to find in the islands or anywhere for that matter if you are looking for it.
