It sounds as if Roger W. Morgan may soon be leaving the local airwaves. If he leaves St. Croix will return to be a boring, dirty, dangerous corrupt island. Sometimes you don't realize how lucky you have it until its gone. Mr. Morgan is a radio legend and Icon, for a community (especially a small community like the VI) to be lucky enough to have such a local talent is truly a blessing. For those of you who don't like his show all you have to do is turn the radio dial.

He was pretty insistent on saying that he won't go down easy.

Not sure if it`s pirate radio, but one of the stations that used to play rock, play rap.
There are 100 rap stations...

I don't know anyone these days who isn't under at least a little bit of a financial squeeze, but I understand he just bought another "free speech" radio station in Virginia. I must say whether you like him or not you must admire the fact that a man of his age is still vibrant and starting businesses.

I listen frequently to radio talk show programs and I think Roger Morgan conducts his shows professionally. The worst radio host is Mario Moorhead. He spreads propaganda and does not enlighten the morons that call. Most of them spend time bashing the governor and each other. Thank God, it is possible to hear issues discussed intelligently on Free Speech. I hope the rumour is not true;however, I do not think STX will be in worst condition without Free Speech.

Roger Morgan's financial woes are partly due to the Senators accusing him of attempted over-throwing of the VI Government after they gave themselves the huge raise. Act 6905?? They filed suit with the FCC and called him the KKK.

I wouldn't blame him for leaving but hope he stays.

The reason I say that if Mr. Morgan leaves the local airwaves crime, pollution and corruption will once again flourish (not that it has stopped) is that there will no longer be any local venue where people could call up and expose or bring up any subject that the powers to be may not want to mentioned. Mr Morgan led the voices against the legislature pay raises, he has organized environmental clean up campaigns and he has brought up questionable behavior of the local politicians. Have you heard the other local talk shows? Not only are they boring, the hosts have never done anything to encourage people (of all races) to get together and better the islands. Sometimes you don't know how good you have it until its gone.

Well, many people listen, but not many act. I belong to a community organization and we go on his show all the time when we need volunteers for a good cause. It always is the same ones that show up.

Let me say that if Rodger leaves we will be losing a voice that has stood for positive change. It is bad enough when you have a government as corrupt as ours. Just sit back and look at all the perks they passed for themselves, the money, the hiring of relatives and on and on. And how little money gets down to the services people need. The local government has learned well from Washington. Make a deal, profit for yourself, get rich and on and on. And it is even harder when they come at you on a personal level as was done here.

If he goes it will be a sad day for the VI.

Look on the bright side. Whoever takes it over may well hire another person to carry on the torch. Could be a better station because of it. I've hear lots of rumors, mostly bad about RWM. Not about his show but more along the lines of how he conducted business or lack thereof.

Just my two cents.

I never felt that his use of the radio was wrong. In fact he gave every chance for others to speak their mind.

But you are right about the chance that another person could provide better discussions. I guess we will need to see.

I am sure everyone has heard the expression a bird in hand is better than a feather in the bush. It has been stated that maybe a new person will carry the torch and be better. Well maybe Mars is made out of green cheese and maybe elephants can fly. Of course those 2 thoughts are untrue but what basis does anyone have that says maybe a new person will be better. Nobody even knows who the new person may be and if the person has been around where have they been all this time. Now I don't know about RWM personal or financial life and to be honest its none of my business. Rumors are nothing but gossup spread by haters. All I know is this guy RWM came to this islands and in a very, very short time has shaken up the local powers to be like they have never been shaken up before. I say if RWM is forced to leave then every single politician from the Govenor, legeislatures, attorney general and inspector generals should be voted or request to leave. Lets start out with a clean slate. Maybe we just need term limits. Speaking of legislators when is Nelie O Riley going to put through a motion to resend the pay salaries. I hope she is not just another example of a politician who says one thing before getting into office and then saying something else once they get in. Maybe she's just enjoying the 85K a year salary to much to give it up.

I am so negative on the politics in the VI that I think it is just a grandstand. The senators will NEVER do anything that results in a decrease in the size of government, or their money, or the armies of their friends and family that they employ.
Here is what we should do.

Vote every out. EVERYONE!

Reduce the number of senators to 6, one for each island plus an additional one for STT and STX.

Get rid of all the middle government and their families.

Do and audit of everything that has been done and throw those that did wrong in jail.

The VI has only 140K people on it (plus who knows how many illegals there are). It is about time that government is sized to the people count, not sized so that as many politicians have jobs as possible.

But alas, this will never happen as the senators are in charge. Look at the raise they gave themselves a few December's ago!

And this is different from mainland politics, HOW?
We should vote them all out but that will never happen. There are to many people on the government dole that will continue to vote them back in.

Agreed...it's the same in Washington only its small enough here to really notice what is going on. I'd say our government here is as corrupt as the one in Washington only their more "honest" about it. They don't try to cover it up nearly as much, they just blatantly do things that leave us scratching our heads (and ranting on message boards :))!

Its also sort of like crime...we freak out because someone was robbed in the restaraunt we were at a few nights before which really brings it home.

Happy Holiday's!

Change IS coming.

But it is the sort of change that takes generations to achieve.

Which is why EDUCATION is KEY!

Which is also why education is in such awful, deplorable shape here. Smart children are a huge political liability.

Still, if you want to make a difference, help by opening they eyes and minds of young people.
