Other Moving Forums?
Does anyone follow any other moving / relocation forums? How do you find they compare to the kind of advise and the "political" type debates you get here? Do they discuss crime, public school vs. private, jobs, social activities for kids or seniors, health care, building expenses, etc.? It might be fun to explore. I think I will type in a couple of my favorite cities and see what I get.
Maybe I'll do that Thursday night, since I WON'T be going to Tast of St. Croix. (sad face)
One that I used to go to a few years back was http://www.movetolasvegas.com
There's always citydata.com as well. There's a board there for the VI as well.
I used to read the Jersey City board--it was a general board for folks living in Jersey City. It's link is http://jclist.com/.
Generally, the threads can get pretty rude and sarcastic, although there are occasional bright spots. For example, a guy had just moved to the area, hadn't got paid yet and was running low on food. The board hooked him up with resources to tide him over 'till he got paid. The board also organized a soup exchange in the winter. Everyone who participated brought four quarts of their favorite home cooked soup and then exchanged with others and made a little party out of meeting each other. KJ
