My twelve y/o needs jaw alignment and braces.
Does anyone know of a great caring Orthodontist on St.Thomas?

Thanks.

A friend took her son to Dr. Chasin. I don't recall any problems. His name is Dr. Arthur Chasin.

Dr Chasin was extremely expensive and not at all 'caring' when my daughter was undergoing ortho dontic work a couple of years ago. I really regret having used him. We started her treatment in PR and had a great experience with the guy there and then we moved to StX and had to use Chasin. The cost of each appointment doubled and the experience was disappointing.
I would research any other option you can.

Glad to hear your friend's son had no problems.

I spoke with Dr.Chasin today. I tracked him down to his office in NY and I asked him about the charges.
To which he said "it was a matter of billing the insurance co. to late for a procedure and nothing to do with his pratice".
Jane you're saying he has an office on St.X also. That makes me question the quality of his
care if he has all these offices all over. ( 2 in NY,1 St.T and St.X)

Well the search continues. If anyone has another doctor they can recommend I would like to have at least one other option.

Cheers.

I don't know this dentist AT ALL - but having offices on STT and STX is not uncommon. Doctors/dentists will spend 2 days seeing patients on one island and 2 on the other.

Well Jane I agree with you on the fact that Dr.Chasin didn't give us the best experience. I understand getting braces or any dental care for that matter is a timely process but there were many times when he wasn't available. First of all, customer service is EVERYTHING! Which is why I couldn't stand going to Chasen. He was very unfriendly towards my daughter. She really hated going back to him. One time l, one of my daughter's brackets came off and he was off island so we couldn't get assistance. Personally , he's very unskilled when it comes to precision. I understand at his old age he may have lost his touch but he left brace cement (brace glue) all over my daughter's teeth. Even though her teeth were crowded , you would expect experienced orthodontists to know what they're doing. I didn't realize she had so much cement stuck on her teeth until her visit at the dentist. The staff was ok , though the waiting room was quite awkward. No music no tv nothing. My friend told me there's two girls working there now as assistants. She said it was very uncomfortable for not one but two strangers in the room during her son's appointment. The space is crowded enough. Maybe I would've appreciated Chasen more if he was more compassionate about his job. Many times my daughter complained about getting cuts from the mouth retractor and Dr.Chasen usually rested leaned on his patients while operating on them. There was one occasion where he LIED on my daughter saying that SHE broke off one of her brackets. On the car ride home , I asked her about it and she told me that he broke it off during the last visit while trying to replace a track. That was enough for me. He was very rough with my daughter and if I had known sooner , I would've switched orthodontists long ago. It made no sense that he left St.Croix to work on St.Thomas too - being that patients need him and he's often not available.

I thought the thread title looked vaguely familiar. Must be quite a record - a newly registered contributor replying to a post/thread from NINE years ago! 😀
