opinions after PMV
I know.. we finally broke down (after many calls and letters trying to get it fixed, along with the oven that hasn't worked since August) and sent him a letter sayng we would just take care of it and take the money off the rent. I love a lot of things about living here, but we have not had a decent landlord since we moved here.

Too bad Betty's place stays rented - I heard through another party she is an excellent landlord! You that are cruising for a spot to land when you move to STX might want to make a note of that.......the good places go quickly and you never know unless you ask!
Yeah! A milk party! Trade and Mell, you will be the first that I invite to my new home when I move! We can have cookies and oreos and chocolate cake! And then we can sneak off and milk some local cows (I've been milking cows by hand for all of my life!)
Here's an interesting tidbit of information for you. The "taste" of different milk is caused by the cows' diets. So, there are probably a lot of local grasses and shrubs that the cows are eating that foreigners like me just aren't used to. We had a terrible problem with our milk here in Louisiana one year when a weed grew all over the pastures, and the milk all came out tasting very bitter! Yuck! LOL.
So, maybe I should start trying to find a website that ships bales of hay to STT from Louisiana....hhmm...there's got to be one of those out there somewhere, right? LOL
Hi all;
Just a fast up date to all of you who think that there is still real milk on STX...sorry, all gone.
St Croix is no longer producing milk...all they are now bottling is from powdered stuff.
With the cost of insurance, broken fences, cost of labor and all the necessary milking that the cow needs, they have stopped the process and now only do concentrated milk like St Thomas.
I got this information from both the side of the milk carton and a friend who is in the agriculture dept on this island!
Maybe someday the dairy will be back to the real thing, but I believe not!

I'm sorry to hear that beth, I know i went through a few awful ones as well. Unfortunately most landlords do not have any property management experience and get annoyed or overwhelmed with everything that has to be taken care of. And living in this salt rich environment does meant there's always something breaking or needs repairing. Sounds like you handled it very professionally. Always good to put anything in writing before you do it.
Watch out for the trans fats.
Smikel,
Sounds like a plan!
We also have Godiva Chocolate Liqueur and Bailey's Irish Cream -- and if you do a search on this board, you will find Joe the Bartender's recipe for Chocolate Martinis. So, come on down!
If there is one thing Virgin Islanders do well, it is throwing an AWESOME party!!! Just wait until Christmas!!!
🙂
I'll be Mell's designated driver. 🙂
Where does the powered milk come from? Old dried up cows? LOL 🙂
Powdered milk boat?
I really appreciate all the infromation. I actually would like to hear more.
Please tell me you dont want to hear more about milk. 🙂 There are many great moving stories and pmv stories located on the board, some that islander has set aside as permant links. Keep reading the board you will not go wrong with that.
Hello Lee Ann,
As Betty mentioned there are more moving & pmv stories on the site. Here is a link to the section where there are about 40 or so stories. https://www.vimovingcenter.com/what_to_expect/. Enjoy.
