Opening Business in STT?
Hello Everyone!
Brand new to the boards and to the idea of making STT the future home of myself and my family. As a current business owner it would be ideal to be able to open a business in STT. I have read up a little on doing so but was wondering what others have experienced? Any information or advice is greatly appreciated.

Depends on the type of business. Be aware that the economy isn't the best at this time.
I currently own a computer business. Buying, selling and servicing new and used desktops and laptops. The move itself wouldn't take place for at least one year, if not two.
That should be one of the better businesses to go into here especially the servicing part. Which island?
We're thinking STT but before we decide we'll most definitely do a PMV to all the islands just to make sure. Schooling for our two young daughters being the most important factor in the island we inevitably will choose.
i think your business is good so there are not so many good computer guys in the islands. If you do a good job you could have lots of clients
That's what were hoping for. 😀
See I always wanted to move to the islands and plan on doing that when my uncle turns 50 in a few years...
I am also into computers, I know hardware, software, I build websites, mostly anything involving computers. I have a couple of businesses on the side along with my online marketing manager job here in the states.
What does everyone do down there for internet service? is there service in the marinas? what about sales or laptop rentals?
damn i wish i could get down there before serendi does!
Lol. Ditto. 😀
On STT we have Radio Shack & Office Max & I think PC Paradise fixes computers. Those are the major ones.
damn no pc doctor..."we come to you"...bad timing
I know a ton of people, myself included who would love to have somebody like from Geek Squad come to our homes. Older people could really use this service.
I find it hard that no one is doing this already...whats the internet situation like down there...dial up broadband? is it abundent...do a lot of people have pcs?

We have about half a dozen isp's. Everything from dial-up to wireless broadband to dsl from the phone company. No cable internet provider. You also can get Hughes Satellite internet (the old DirecPC). Everyone I know has at least one pc.
Serendi- I do exactly what you describe on STX. It's tough to penetrate the market, but once you do, the work is plentiful. I'm not as sure about STT as I only have a few clients there, but the ones I do have keep calling me back... 🙂
