Does anyone have an up-to-date list of entities that ship to the VI for free?

Trying to figure out where to buy what is driving me bonkers.

I know there was a very old thread on the topic but it is old so it would be nice to have a new list.

This thread may seem "very old" but it's all relative. Nothing much changes here from year to year and the info here is pretty much as good as it was a year plus ago!

Shipping for free?!! I've found several online stores that will ship here (and a whole lot that won't), but none that shipped for free. I'll look for the thread. BTW - does anyone know why so many stores won't ship to us, even when they ship everywhere else in the world?

Because we are listed as international?

We're a US Territory and shipping here is considered international shipping by those companies using FedX and UPS and their higher costs of shipping here.

Because we are outside the Continental US we are considered international by many companies who do not use USPS, just like Alana said.

I just had a package shipped USPS and couldn't get a tracking number because the STX street address wasn't even in their database. But at least it was still flat rate.

Amazon will ship here free for orders $35.00 and over (merchandise only) as long as it is shipped by Amazon or full filled by Amazon. You need to select standard shipping only which once it ships is usually here within a week. It will not be a choice at checkout (free shipping) you need to contact Amazon with chat or call and give them the order # and remind them we are eligible for the free shipping. If they tell you it is only continental tell them to check with super. I have had at least 20+ orders shipped free and some of these are extremely heavy. You do not need to be a prime member just remember standard shipping on checkout and all items sold or full filled by Amazon.

Wait till it gets here and you will see that it does have a tracking number. All Flat rate shipments do. Even first class packages do.

I buy many small items through e-bay that ship for free. You just have to look at the options that the seller offers.

We'll see. The shipper sent me a picture of the USPS label before he dropped it off. There's a 5 digit shipment ID and a 5 digit package ID but no long USPS tracking number on it.

Drugstore.com and Aveda.com ship for free usually for purchases over $35. Vitacost.com ships for a flat $9.99 and it is worth it because their prices are so much lower than costs locally, for organic brands.

I'm talking about companies that regularly ship to other international locations. Kind of weird when a company will ship to England, Mexico, Dubai, etc. but not to VI.

I ship everything I order online to Paradise Freight in Miami, then pick it up when it arrives here. It really is the best way to ship hassle free and most companies ship free within the continental US so the Paradise Freight cost is minimized.

I just ordered some groceries from Walmart.com and received free shipping for order $50 or over. That has never happened before though! Usually takes 3-5 weeks to show up.

Sorry, so your saying the items you ordered will be just as stale as what is on the shelves here now by the time you receive them? *-)

😀 I get ya. I ordered dried beans and nuts and Eclipse chewing gum. I figured they couldn't be any worse than what I get on the shelf here, and if they are, I will ask for a refund. It was worth a shot at less than half the cost of what they are here on St. John.

I orderd some canned goods with some fragile food. They put all that in the same box with a cast iron skillet. Did not turn out well. Let them know and request ed separate shipping for the fragile items. Nope shipped in the same way again. So. Just be careful what you order . Order canned goods and heavy items separately from fragile items.

They used do do free shipping about 2 years ago . Stopped for some reason and recently started again.

I just noticed that they shipped Priority Mail....for free. So that is good news! I hear ya speedy on the ordering. I do a lot of ordering with cvs.com. Sometimes they pack well, other times not so well. But every time they mess up they reship my entire order for free. So I'm not going to complain too much. Most of the stuff is ok after I wipe it down. Oxyclean and laundry soap are usually the culprits. The post office freaks out on me when I have a box dripping Tide out the bottom.

Do they evacuate the PO and call in the Feds - or slyly stick a finger in and taste it?

I ordered dawn. The post office sent it back. Leaking all over the place. And that was shipped alone. They put potato chips in with the cast iron skillet. Not very sharp. Lol.

Ha ha! Well, St. John is pretty small, and we all know each other, so they just call me (they might have my number on speed dial) and tell me to come get the mess from the back because they don't want to bring it inside.

There is an 'art' to properly packing a box, or bagging groceries. I would imagine when a $150 order has to be reshipped to me for free, someone probably isn't keeping their job for very long.

I just realized that I was shipped my Walmart order in two boxes.... and I forgot to remove the shampoo from the order!!!! So we'll see what happens. Both boxes shipped Priority Mail, but the Walmart estimated delivery quotes Parcel Post.

I ordered from CVS not long ago, and it went UPS SurePost. Tracking info only stated "Pre Shipment Information Received" on October 16th and nothing else until yesterday afternoon when I got a notice that "Available for Pick up" That was super fast for Parcel Post via UPS SurePost. Now I just have to see if I had an artful packer, or a newbie packer. Lots of shampoo and soap in that box!
