Bratt: See my post on the last page. You can get free, quick shipping from keurig.com!!
So frustrating getting things shipped here for a decent price - or at all.
I learned a trick from a customer service rep when the company's dropdown menu of states didn't include the VI's when shipping through the Post Office. She suggested that I try using Virginia's abbreviation, VA, and the correct zip code. She told me that the PO reads the zip code and doesn't pay attention to the state. I hold my breath but everytime I do this, the package gets here just fine and on time.
Anyone have any luck lately getting electronics here for less than an extra $200? I've hunted this thread and a couple of others. Since the info goes back a couple of years, I just wanted to check. I am specifically looking for an HP Pavilion dv7 series laptop. I'm on STT, btw, just in case anyone has one they'd like to sell on island or has seen them for sale in a store. My online search did lead me to KMart and Office Max, but neither online site had the dc7. Thanks all, as usual!

VI Cargo will ship from Miami to STX for a reasonable price. I don't know of a similar option for STT.

Did you try Best Buy?
www.bestbuy.com
Just got a laptop from B & H Photo shipped for close to actual ship cost (Priority Mail). They will also ship Express Mail if you are in a hurry. Give them a try, and make sure you research the computers because they will often have the same computer listed several times but with a variety of promotions (and prices). www.bhphotovideo.com
B & H Photo is probably the most professional outfit I have ever dealt with -- they are the place to go for anyone in NYC and the film industry.
I did NOT try Best Buy. Why didn't I think of them? Thanks. And thanks for the other website suggestion, too.
Best Buy ships here????
Looks as though they do!! I didn't even try them at first. I'll let you know for sure after the weekend. I'm going to get that laptop AND they have the underwater camera I've been wanting.
Wow. Please let us know how it works out.
Just discovered, in my search for a particular product, that VitaCost will ship here. $9.99 flat rate shipping, and free shipping on orders over $49. They sell "healthy living" products, including organic foods.
They also have a great referral program to get new customers. If anyone wants a $10 coupon for savings on their first order, PM me and I'll send you a link for it.
Edited to add - when it comes to shipping, choose "United States" as the country, but look for "U.S. Virgin Islands" in the dropdown menu for states. (I missed it at first when I just hit the V key.) And, they will ship to PO boxes! Hallelujah. 😎
I just had an interesting dialogue with www.marineandreef.com - they just flat out refused to use the USPS and the customer service agent said the USVI is just not part of the system?
i have a few great places to get quilting fabric and quilting magazines that in the states can be bought at the magazine rack in grocery stores but not here
Surprising abou Vitacost... I've ordered stuff from there through amazon but they didnt ship here. Next time I'll have to try buying directly from them.
dont forget rockauto
As an update, I have ordered from VitaCost several times now, and even though I haven't shipped any of the orders via Priority, I have gotten my parcels from them in five days or less, every time (versus other merchants, also shipping on the same day, taking 3 weeks or more). What's more, they stock and have cheaper prices on a lot of things I used to buy through Drugstore.com and other places. Many of their prices are actually cheaper than you can buy stuff in the states. I'm very impressed and hope they keep up the good work.
Thought I would update - some companies might have changed their policy since this was complied - easiest way to check is to put anything in your basket and proceed to check out just so you don't waste a lot of time and then be disappointed at the end.

I ordered some awesome fabric from http://www.onlinefabricstore.net for $13 in shipping for 10 yards. Made my own chevron print curtains and saved over $200 😀 Pretty fast delivery too.
I just ordered something from QVC which could not be shipped to me at my PO Box nor my physical address via UPS here in the VI (DRAT!) so had to send to my sister in FL to remail to me. QVC said some items they can ship to VI (via mailboxes or UPS delivery to homes) but not others due to customs and homeland security issues. Sooooooooo frustrating.
AandA, that seems kinda high for shipping. most fabric places i use only charge 5 something
Also...
