We left our Keurig in storage in San Diego... thinking that getting the coffee here would just be too expensive.
The liquid/cream/powder thing is not the issue because they would not ship a mattress-pad here, but I can get shampoo and face wash from drugstore.com
it is something else that is seemingly undefined - and very frustrating.
Cooking.com is the same way - they will send SOME things but not others with no real reasoning it seems.
There is no one answer. They possibly didn't ship the matress pad because it wasn't coming directly from Amazon (maybe??). I too get plenty of health/beauty aids products sent, mostly from QVC. Just saying sometimes there is a particular ingredient in a particular product, not generalizing. QVC carries a line of products that include several different perfume scents. They will ship a couple of them, and a couple they will not. It's crazy! I checked into it once and was told it's a VI Government restriction on some chemicals.
A friend of mine has some sign paint sitting in FL right now. It's a small package. She can't find a way to get it sent. Yet...there's plenty of paint in the islands. Like I said...crazy!
Left our Keurig at the house back in Seattle...kinda forgot I had it until this thread came along. It was a pain finding just the specific K-Cups we wanted even in Seattle so I didn't bother bringing it here.

Tippi: I have run into this with both electronics and used books through Amazon. About the only things I have had success with have been new books and CDs.
Tippi (et all) - Per Amazon's website ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=468634&#protectorates):
Only the following items can be shipped to U.S. Protectorates:
* baby items
* books
* DVDs
* music
* software
* toys
* VHS videos
* video games
I, too, was very frustrated! (You can also now ship Kindles here -- yeah!)
Lisa
still waiting on Overstock.com - they even did an "escape to the US Virgin Islands" sweepstakes last month... silly that they still don't ship here.
Amazon is shipping more and more items now a days. I got stone tiles for baking and a clay bread shell from amazon directly shipped here.
I thought the Amazon exclusion was for electronics only...
Don't think so. I've tried to order some foodstuffs and toiletries and not been able to.
Food, like fresh or refrigerated stuff? I can understand that. You can't order Harry and David fruits, Williams-Sonoma items that come in refrigerator packs, flowers from 1-800-flowers, etc. Toiletries I don't understand, though.
Someone explained a while back that Amazon can, and will, ship here, but most of the time when you shop on Amazon for items, others than books, cd, etc., you are actually buying from another company, via the Amazon website. It is the other companies that won't ship here.
I have tried going directly to the "other company's" website to give it a try and have not been successful yet. However, I find that usually, not always, if I google enough, I can find a company that will ship here, with the same item, or maybe a very similar (sometimes better) item. So...all good.
No, these were lipton drink mixes. Light and easy to ship but very expensive here. They wouldn't ship them.
Woohoo just received my Skechers Tone-Ups with "Free USPS Priority Mail" from http://beallsflorida.com/
Quite comfortable for $39.99

I've been looking all over STX for a mounting bracket for a small flat TV. Kmart's/Sear's least expensive is around $100. Mike's Electronics had one for $79, GBH had one at their tent sale for $50, but it was too small. I can find them all day long on line for less than $25. So, I asked Mike's and Kmart/Sears WHY theirs were so expensive. No good answer. The young man at Sears said it was because of duty. The young man at Mike's said it was because I was finding "off" websites (Amazon, Walmart, etc...not too "off" ). But, I was having a little difficulty getting it shipped for less than $25-$35. Finally found the one I wanted for $14.88, plus $8.99 shipping through Buy.com (For those not familiar, it's similar to Amazon and Ebay.) The company actually selling, and shipping, is called digiair. They will even ship to my P.O. Box, and they accept PayPal. I always prefer using PayPal if it's a site I'm not familiar with.
To be fair, I found lots of expensive mounts and VERY expensive mounts on line too, but this one is rated for way more weight than I need, and it got good reviews.
Sounds like prices on-line (except for the last one you are buying from) were not much less than on-island if you included shipping.
I hate to buy from a new place - let us know how it goes -- I'm always looking for new places to add to my personal "approved" list. lol.
I go an email this morning saying it has already shipped. WOW!
Walmart ships to the VI. Reasonable shipping prices also!
Juanita,
You're the first person I've heard report 'good things' about Buy.com. Thanks for the heads up.
Tippi
Well Tippi, I haven't received it yet! We'll see....What sort of bad reports have you heard?
Back orders and long wait for items that was sold as in stock. A friend waited close to 8 weeks for item and then the time to ship here. Was disappointed to say the least. The appeal was the price but the wait he said wasn't worth it.
I'm thinking good transaction for you.
Keep us posted as I'm anxious to see if you get the items shipped out pronto.
Tippi and others,
I received the mounting bracket today. It was sent USPS Priority. Remember, shipping cost was about $9.00. I can't find a postage date on the package, but my email said it was shipped Sunday, so it probably didn't really get into the mail system until Monday. Either way, 4-5 days. And, it's exactly as it was represented to be. It will be perfect for the new TV (if I ever get the remote working...see other thread about Digital Labs). I would order from them again.

For real nice fashionable men's clothing (and yes they have swimming suites) at decent prices, I just stumbled on http://www.bonobos.com and the offer free shipping and returns to the USVI.
Shipping here can be so frustrating. One trick I use from time to time is with stores that say they ship to the VI's but don't have VI in their "state" list. A customer service person once told me to use the abbreviation of Virginia, VA, because the Post Office only reads the zip code. I've done this a few times, held my breath, but the package has always arrived!
Stxer1 I have done the same thing when personally ordering online and have received the packages.
Amazon shipped my coffee for the Kuerig coffee maker and I have friends bring some down when they visit.
Petsmart just shipped a XL wire dog kennel, although shipping was expensive, it was still cheaper than buying one at the Pet Store here.
