Old Renaissance Grand Beach Resort

Rumors keep flying. I haven't heard anything definitive but they're going to have to do a heck of a lot of work on the place. Anything sitting idle too long here goes downhill quickly & the buildings weren't in the best shape when they closed. Hope it opens again.

We're staying next door at Point Pleasant. I'll take a walk over to see what's going on.

Just got back this week and the rumor that we heard was that crowne plaza(holiday inn) was supposed to announce this week.

The Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza is correct. Also, John Murphy who was the 2nd to last general manager of the Renaissance with be the manager under the new ownership.

I walked over yesterday.......nothing is being done!

It looks like it's just sitting there deteriorating.

I doubt that will happen. As I understand it, the closing on the sale took waaaay longer than it was supposed to which will push back the opening.

I suppose that's the story of the island in general...oh how I miss "island time"!

Trade, your info is a bit incorrect.

Murphy is overseeing the rejuvenation of the hotel but once all is in place and working to plan, he'll not be here physically after about a year but he is certainly a major part of the whole plan.

It's quite possible that some of the rooms might be available in short shrift, i.e. by Easter. Cheers!
