oct. weather?
just wondering if anyone on the forum keeps weather records.in the 14 years we have lived here,it seemed to be the hotest oct. i ever remember.any one know?
It's been hot in the South East mainland as well. Seems even the leaves are coming down later.
lily, i have been here since 2004 and i think it is the hottest october also. i am usually putting a small blanket on the bed by now. and this year not even the sheet
Daffodils are blooming right now in the Midwest US. No kidding.
I've noticed the same. When we first moved here, August and September were the hottest months. Now it seems like September and October are now hotter. We recently had AC installed in the house so that makes it more bearable on those hot, humid evenings.
But, lets face it, the world is getting warmer and sea levels are rising.
You can look at historical weather on weahterunderground.com .
Here's a quick snapshot of what I pulled up for October.
2012 - 1 day over 90 (90 was the highest temp)
2013 - 23 days over 90 (91)
2014 - 12 days over 90 (92)
2015 - 21 days over 90 (93) - first time I was in STX, was when it hit 93. It was hot!!
2016 - 17 days over 90 (91) - most of the temps were above 90 towards the end of the month, so maybe that's why it seemed warmer?
thanks dave-that was interesting

South of the equator it is unseasonably cold & if sea levels WERE rising, we'd be one of the first to notice. NASA is now saying that "climate change" causes the sea levels to FALL not rise.. so even those guys are back peddling on that issue.
so no, to both.
Some time ago, I read an article about an island in the South Pacific that applied to the (I believe it was the UN) for funding to reinforce their shoreline for an impending sea level rise of 4' due to climate change. They received a huge bundle of money, which was never actually applied to any major project. The money vanished, and twenty years later the sea level was estimated to have risen an eigth of an inch.

Sounds similar to nearly every ecological move made by governments... haha
In Alaska we had to emission test our cars every other year for "smog", the EPA came up and did some air quality checks and said we no longer needed the program.
the local government decided to keep it because... jobs.
It's good to care about the environment, it's bad to have the government involved in it.
